House Sitter Spring 2024
We are looking for non-smoking sitters with references for 7 weeks commencing on Monday 12th August 2024, and concluding on Saturday Oct 12th 2024 inclusive.
We have a 5-year-old border collie that requires feeding twice a day and is locked up at night. The dog may need a coat placed on her at night especially if moving from in front of the internal fire to her outside kennel / run. There are three external fish tanks that require food every day. The dog loves company and will self-exercise chasing balls once she is let out of her run in the morning or is always keen to go for a walk anytime.
Veggie gardens will require watering if the natural weather conditions are not favourable.
My husband and I together with our youngest daughter live in the Victorian West Coast area on 8 acres in a quiet rural area surrounded by natural bush that backs onto 150 acres of natural parkland which is bordered by a public walking track and a quiet beautiful surf beach. We have two dams, the one closest to the house that we swim in has been pool fenced for safety. We currently reside in a large shed while building our house on the same property. The shed is 210 square meters (23 squares) plus 7 external carports under the same roof. Internally, we have one large (26 ft) caravan and one medium (17 ft) caravan for bedrooms in addition to living areas, kitchen, pantry, meals area, office, laundry, bathroom, and combustion heater completing the remainder of the shed area. Hot & cold running tank water is professionally plumbed internally. Our shed is carpeted and features all the standard modern labour-saving appliances. It is virtually a house without any internal walls or plaster lining that can become cold at night where you may choose to move into the large, heated caravan (bedroom) fitted with chairs, bench seats, table, and TV etc.
Internal and sensor activated 240V external lights, power, combustion heater, water, sewage (septic), phone, fax, TV, Basic Foxtel, Netflix and Wi/Fi are all available to the building. For all your shopping needs we live a short distance from either Torquay or Anglesea and the large regional city of Geelong is 25 minutes away.
This position would suit an active retired couple that may like to come and go during the day and spend their nights at home. There are plenty of cleared parking areas around the buildings which would suit someone that would prefer to stay in their own caravan / motorhome rather than “Our Shed” or use a combination of them both. You will need to love dogs and spoil her daily with lots of attention as she frets when we go away. We have nice neighbours and family members who live reasonably close by should you require any assistance. It would be preferable to meet with us and our pets before making any decisions.
There is nothing else to do except look after the animals, collect our mail from the front gate every couple of days, stoke up the fire and relax. If you enjoy peaceful surroundings in the natural Australian bush with only minutes’ drive to our local pristine beaches and having direct access to walking and bike tracks with spectacular ocean views, then this is a place you may wish to consider.
