We need a house sitter

Melbourne - North

Airdrie

Hi there!

We're looking for someone to house-sit and care for our dogs in June/July.

We have an elderly 13-yr-old dachshund who really loves nothing more than to spend the day snoozing on your a lap. She has a delicate spine, she's had three operations, and is a bit wobbly on her back legs. She needs gentle handling. We also have a 5 year old standard wire-haired dachshund named Henry, who is just as interested in food as Molly, but not quite so much of a lapdog. Henry is a very easy-going & relaxed boy, with a very deep bark which he uses to alert us if there's anyone at the front door. A wireless doorbell, if you will!

We have netflix, stan, prime, disney, binge, we're connected to the NBN, and the house is very close to public transport (tram and bus stop both 2 min walk from the front door, train closer to a 10 min walk), there is free parking in front of the house, with plenty of decent, inexpensive restaurants & cafes located very close by.

Molly is very content to spend most of the day curled up in her bed in the kitchen, or curled up on your lap. She is an elderly dog, that's pretty much all she'll want to do. She does enjoy a short walk too, just a gentle stroll to the corner and back, once a day. Her little old legs won't go much farther than that. If it's raining she'll be very happy to just stay indoors. Henry definitely loves a walk, and will happily be taken out for two or three walks a day (we leave Molly at home for the second & third walk). They are used to having someone at home most of the time, so our sitter preference is for a homebody / remote worker / retiree.

There is a lovely big fish tank, also in the kitchen - the fish don't need much care, just a pinch of fish food once a day. It will be cleaned just before we leave, so no need to do anything other than enjoy the relaxing vibes of watching the fish floating by in the tank & keep them fed.

We'd also appreciate you giving the plants on the back deck and in the hanging basket out the front a regular watering while we're away (every other day should be enough).

Please contact us if you are interested in caring for our home & beloved pets. Retirees and/or those who work from home very favourably considered.

BRONWEN (Dec 2023 - 4 nights)
This house sit was a 'smooth operation'. Airdrie was very easy to deal with, instructions were clear and easy, and her communication was prompt. The two dogs were very sweet and pretty easy to care for - they like their routine and know when its meal time. No problems at all and a very comfy bed!

ANNE (Nov 2022 - 1 day)
Spike and Molly were a joy to take care of. Spike's meal routine was very straightforward and Airdrie left detailed notes, both hard copy and sent them to me digitally. Airdrie graciously allowed me to stay the night before the sit and I was able to see meal time process face to face but she also has a video which I did not need to refer to.

BEC (Aug 2022 - 1 day)
We had a great time house-sitting for Airdrie and Mick. Their two dogs Spike and Molly are absolutely beautiful and we also got to spend time with Joan, a very cute and cheeky dachshund they were fostering. Airdrie was great to communicate with leading up to the house-sit. Their house is a great location on Moreland road. We really enjoyed our stay and recommend house-sitting for Airdrie and Mick to anyone looking to do so in the future.

TIM (Apr 2022 - 2 days)
I enjoyed my stay in Coburg, which was a great location for shops and cafes. Airdrie left clear instructions about the house and pets. So overall it was a great house sit.

DEBBIE (Feb 2021 - 5 days)
I really love my stay at Airdrie's house. I was made to feel welcome and at home while I was there. I Highly recommend this house

JANINE (Jan 2021 - 5 days)
I had such a wonderful time at Airdrie and Micks over Christmas. Molly and Spike were such angels and I really enjoyed their company. Communication with Airdrie was fantastic and the house was so homely, comfortable and secure. I do hope I get the chance to sit for them again in the future. Thank you for having me :)
