Moura QLD

We are looking for a house sitter to care for our family home and pets for 2.5 weeks whilst we are travelling overseas on a family holiday. Our home is located in Moura, Central Qld, which is a small country town located near the Dawson River and is supported by the beef, grain, cotton, coal and gas industries.

Moura is located a 2 hour drive south west of Rockhampton (170 km) and west of Gladstone (186 km) . It has many facilities, including an IGA for grocery shopping, a pub with restaurant, a tavern with restaurant, bowls club with restaurant, a local bakery (they bake the best bread in Queensland!). and several other cafes.

The Dawson River is located 7km from town and many enjoy camping in the area and fishing, waterskiing and kayaking on the river. The Dawson Mine viewing platform is located approx 15 minutes drive from town where you can observe some of the coal mining operations.

Our home is located on the edge of town and backs onto a paddock where the neigbour's cattle live and the local kangaroos visit daily. From the back of the house, you can enjoy the most beautiful country sunsets.

Our home is an older style, lowset (5 steps) wooden 4 bedroom home with polished floors in the main living area and 3 bedrooms available for use - king bed, queen bed & a king single bed. The house is fully screened and has reverse cycle air-conditioners and ceiling fans installed in every room. The bathroom has been renovated and is absolutely beautiful! The rest of the house is older but very comfortable and everything is in working order.

We have 3 gorgeous mini dachshunds who love lots of pats & cuddles and 3 ragdoll cats. All animals are allowed inside but the cats prefer to sleep on the verandah and the sausage dogs like to be very close to people so they will be wherever you are.

All animals will need to be fed morning and night and the food will be pre-portioned ready to go. Some watering of pot plants, potted fruit trees and a very small potted herb garden will be required every 2-3 days. No lawn mowing or gardening will be required unless you feel compelled to do so.
