Riddells Creek VIC

Hi - we are off on a family holiday and need someone to care for our house and pets being, 1 Budgie, 1 Cockatiel, 3 gold fish and 4 chickens.

Our house is located in lovely secluded bushland, but there are friendly neighbours nearby. There is a V/line station at Riddells Creek for commuters - we are 4km from the station. Your own transport is required. Riddells Creek has a supermarket, several restaurants, service station, post office and newsagent. There is much to explore in the area including the Macedon Regional Park, farmers markets and Hanging Rock.

The house is modern, well insulated with internet and all modern appliances (TV, dishwasher, microwave, stove, oven, fridge). There is no land telephone line so you need a mobile phone. We will provide firewood and electric heating is also available.

The pet care requirements are fairly minimal: to ensure feeding, cleaning of chicken nest boxes (every 5-7 days) and ensuring the indoor birds are fed and watered. The fish will need to be fed daily and their tank cleaned at least twice to maintain water quality.

The Cockatiel (Momo) and Budgie (Spark) free range in the house during the day so we need people to be careful not to leave external doors open - you need to be comfortable birds out of their cages. The house birds will sit on your head or shoulders and are friendly, but do have grumpy moments. They will return to their cage by themselves in the evening.

The chickens have an electric fence and coupe that protects them from foxes and is easy to maintain, but consistency and vigilance (e.g. electric fence is switched on) is required to ensure they are protected from foxes.

We are looking for a responsible couple or single person to care for our home.
