We need a house sitter

South Coast

Evelyn

Hi there! My partner and I live in a sweet little roundhouse on an acreage (14 acres), and are looking for a house sitter for the next New Years’ break. We have an almost-2 year old border collie named Stella, a little budgie called Gypsy, and two poddy lambs (that will be sheep by next year) called Blimey n Strewth.

Stella is a super sweet girl who is insanely friendly and very well behaved, house trained, and easy to care for. She takes two meals a day and loves a fresh bone to chew on each afternoon (all to be provided, of course). She is allowed in the house, but we can exclude her from the bedroom if that is your preference. Her best friend, Sully, may also visit - a border collie from next door who is more of a free-range dog, just a few months older than her and just as gentle and friendly as her! But if you’re not comfortable letting him in for a play, the fence will keep him out and he won’t bother you.

Gypsy is about 5 years old and is a nervous little thing so doesn’t come out of his cage much, but loves to sing and chat with you from his safe space. He only needs his water changed once a day and fresh seed every 2 days.

The two sheep will mostly require supervision and maybe some extra dry feed, depending on what their paddock looks like by then. They were bottle-raised from babies, so they are very gentle and sweet, and even come up for a pat.

Our home is a bit like a cottage - it’s a one-bedroom roundhouse with kitchen and bathroom, as well as a guest studio in our backyard, if you feel a bit odd staying in the master bedroom. Photos and details and even video calls can be organised to show you around - but we are clean, tidy, house proud and very happy to make your stay as comfy as possible. As for the garden and house plants, some light watering might be required for hot days, but nothing crazy. Our fenced area around the house is about an acre, so plenty of room for Stella to run about and play with you, and the rest of the property offers paddocks, a dam, a seasonal creek, some lightly wooded bush area and a cracker vista of the whole valley from our top corner, for afternoon cocktails.

We are also across the road from Deua National Park - specifically, the Berlang Campground, which has gorgeous swimming spots along the Shoalhaven River, as well as two beloved bushwalking tracks, The Big Hole and Marble Arch. It’s a beautiful spot for summer dips, and definitely walkable or bike-able for those who like to stay active. We adore our little home and think it’s quite a special place to stay, with lots of friendly animals who would love to meet you.
