35, Nurse
33, Mechanical Engineer
Greetings!! We are a couple of professionals from Canada traveling the beautiful Australia as we recently got our much-anticipated visa for permanent residency to immigrate. We are currently exploring different cities, looking for the area that would suit us best. I (Laurianne) work as a remote nurse, and Simon is a mechanical engineer, both from Montreal, Quebec, the french-speaking part of Canada.
Our pet/housesitting experience:
-------------------------------------------
Simon and I have long term experience with pets as we either had cats, dogs, birds, and fishes since childhood. Thus, we are used to take care of pets in general and the responsibilities that come with them.
We are also experienced in taking care of friends and family's pets and homes since we have a very broad social circle. Homes were ranging anywhere between a small downtown apartment to a big house in the countryside. We always ask for a to-do list, so we don't forget anything important. Communication is key to us thus, we like to establish in advance what will the preferred way to reach people if something comes up.
We are already registered on the well-known platform TrustedHousesitters and have excellent reviews. All of our them were positive with 5-stars ratings only. They can be provided upon request.
A bit about us!
-------------------------------------------
We enjoy the great outdoors by hiking, swimming, diving, surfing and mountain biking and are looking forward to find what the country has to offer. We absolutely love discovering new places to eat or drink (microbreweries!) and get to know the story of the different regions.
Why do we want to pet sit for you?
-------------------------------------------
During our recent 6-months van trip in the USA, we used the platform Trusted House Sitters to travel differently, at a slower pace. We met wonderful people who always made us feel welcomed and at home. Moreover, it was also a way for us to really feel the vibe of the community we were pet sitting in. Thus, we decided to use the pet sitting platforms to help us try to find the perfect place to live in Australia. It is very important for us to be honest and share with hosts the reasons why we want to house and pet sit as we are not just regular travelers. Our goal is to blend in and live as locals to catch the essence of the area. We are searching for a place to call home, a community not just to stay but to live and thrive in as this journey is our life project, a dream come true for both of us.
It is worth mentioning that we are financially independent, respectful, and trustworthy. We see house and petsitting as a wonderful and unique tool to help us in our journey.
We are the kahus (guardians in Hawaiian) of Maki, a lovely, playful, and affectionate tuxedo cat. Just like us, he's a fan of being outdoors. He loves to cuddle and treats, and he's always in for an acrobatic show. Unfortunately, Maki, will not be accompanying nor moving with us in Australia. It is with a broken heart that we must leave him behind as we are sure he wouldn’t survive the flights. Being an outdoor and free cat, he was unable to get accustomed to the van life thus, making all types of travel impossible. Animals are a very important part of our lives and being able to pet sit, bond and care for them will help comfort us since we will be separated from Maki.
On a serious note, IMPORTANT TO KNOW:
-------------------------------------------
-We are professionals and are very responsible people. We do own a house (in Canada) and know exactly how you feel when you leave it to strangers. Thus, we commit to take care of your place as good as if it was ours.
-We are very clean people and always aim to leave the place cleaner than when we arrived. This is our life philosophy even outside this platform.
-We are calm, quiet, reliable and flexible. We certainly don't aim to party, and we'll make sure everything is done if you have a to-do list.
-The most important: we are animal lovers. We connect easily with most pets and we'll put them in top priority during our stay. Simple as that!
-We are non-smokers, vaccinated, and do not use drugs.
BONUS: Simon is an engineer so he has technical knowledge but he also has very good craftsmanship. If you have something to fix, install or else, we'll be happy to help out.
We're always willing to learn something new, so if you have specific or special care needed for an animal, or even out-of-the-ordinary animals (horse, reptile, etc.), we'll be glad to help.
Hopefully, you'll find us to be a good fit for your family!
