Rest assured perfect care

Retired public servant

Retired military

We are a mature Australian couple who love animals and own our own home in Canberra and Clifton Beach in Cairns.

I have recently retired from a government job and Michael is retired having previously been in the Australian Defence Force for 37 years. I previously owned a restaurant for many years before joining the public service.

We are a friendly reliable, trustworthy, non-smoking couple (fully vaccinated) who stay fit by long walks and going to the gym and swimming.

We greatly miss having the love and companionship of animals in our life. We lost our beautiful spoodle in late 2018 having had him since we rescued him in 2007. Caring for someone else’s pets seems like a perfect thing for us to do right now. When we had our spoodle we would never arrange a holiday until we first had secured someone ( usually a couple) to stay with Him when we would go away as he had a bit of attachment disorder and did not like staying in another home and he never went to a kennel. We are sure there are many other people out there who feel the same as us, so we would love to look after your loved pets (babies) while you are away knowing your home will be cared for as if it was our own ( and we have high standards of cleanliness).

Michael and I are both great animal lovers so we know what it is like to leave a treasured pet when you go on holidays. Our spoodle had attachment disorder and a few other idiosyncrasies so we couldn’t leave him with just anybody. In fact we would never book a trip until we had first selected the right house sitter. We were so lucky that by using house sitters websites we were able to vet possible carers and found really good fits for the times that we were away.

We would treat your house as our own but most importantly provide the love and care for our charges as if they were our own.

I was referred to Michael and Fiona from a colleague who knew them as a lovely couple who love animal and sometimes look after other peoples animals as a favour. I have two very pampered and spoilt dogs, they are all I have and are my world. Dante an intelligent but stubborn Pekingese and Chikko an elderly temperamental (but not with me) Pomeranian who requires daily medication. My fur babies don't like everyone, they are very selective regarding who they will even tolerate so I was reluctant to leave them with anyone. My sister usually looks after them when I go away which hasn't been very often. On this occasion I had to go into hospital and my sister was away so I was desperate to find someone who not only would look after my house but put up with my spoilt darlings. From the first meeting it was evident that they both loved animals and put the time and effort into getting to know Dante and Chikko, in fact Chikko took to them straight away and Dante was soon sideling up to Fiona for a pat and some attention. I was away for 8 days and in that time I was kept updated with photos and stories of how my babies were getting on. They were very spoilt while I was away - I didn't expect them to be allowed on the bed however I was very pleased to know that their normal routine was not changed and they were both allowed to cuddle up on the bed. When I retuned from hospital not only was the house sparkling clean, Chikko and Dante although overjoyed to see me, looked very happy and healthy and very comfortable with Michael and Fiona. I had a few baskets of washing and ironing in the laundry as I had not been well. When I returned the laundry was completely empty - everything had been washed and ironed . Michael and Fiona were so very kind not only to my babies but to me. I would thoroughly recommend them to anyone who was lucky enough to have them look after their pets and their home.

Fiona and Michael are the type of house sitters dreams are made of. We were able to completely relax and enjoy our time away, knowing our most important possessions were being well cared for. Fiona and Michael sent regular photos and updates of our fur-babies being pampered, which really did make our holiday all that more enjoyable. Our house was left sparkling clean, our pool was even cleaner than when we had left it and our garden was flourishing. Michael even took the time to patch up and fix a pool toy that had been punctured weeks before our trip. They are so good, our family has been known to plan our holidays around Michael and Fiona's availability. Our neighbours even ask when Michael and Fiona will be back! If you are looking for the best of the best, look no further. Our contact details can be provided upon request. Thank you, Kate and Ash

I have known Mick and Fiona for 12 years in that time they have looked after my two little west highland terriers on a number of occasions when I have been deployed at short notice and unable to find someone to look after them as I would never leave them in a kennel. Lucky my westies got on famously with their beautiful spoodle so I was always confident when on deployment that they were in the best of hands being treated like part of Fiona and Micks family going on two walks a day and going on car trips to different off lead parks on the weekends. I can’t say enough about how genuinely kind, friendly, honest, house proud and trustworthy they are. I wish they didn't live so far away as they were definitely the best dog sitters my westies had ever had the pleasure of staying with and I cannot think of better people to take on the role as house sitters as if they were available here I would select them to look after my home and treasured westies without a second thought.

I had the pleasure to house and pet sit for Fiona and Michael in 2018 when they were living in Thursday Island. I found them to be the nicest people, so caring and friendly both having held very responsible roles in the forces. They kept an immaculate home and absolutely treated their beautiful puppy Sarg with love and care just like a member of the family. Now that they are trying their hand at house sitting I feel your home and pets couldn't be in better hands they are trustworthy, reliable and lots of fun. Fiona and Michael have kept in touch and I one day hope to see them again and of course Sarg.
