Hans and I are a married couple and are experienced house and pet sitters.

We would love the opportunity to housesit your home and care for your beloved pets.

We work from home so you can rest assured your pets will get lots of cuddles, conversations and any special attention they need (eg dietary, exercise, grooming, medication etc).

We are both positive people, we value mindfulness, have kindness and empathy at the forefront of our mind, and we always respect your privacy.

Because we live in Adelaide we look forward to the opportunity to meet-n-greet with you and your pets in person before any decisions are made.

And whilst you are away, we like to send you regular updates and photos of your pets. And for that personal touch we are more than happy to schedule a FaceTime/Zoom for you to talk with them.

ABOUT US:

Hans and I met each other in 2001 through mutual friends who “match made” us on a skiing holiday in Thredbro. We’ve been inseparable ever since.

We recently moved from Sydney to Adelaide - we love it! - and before deciding where to settle we enjoy exploring different parts of city and the region.

Hans is a Scientist and works as a Consultant, and I am a Publisher and also a Milliner (hat maker).

We are quiet people and homebodies, and we like to keep ourselves fit and healthy, love going on walks and exploring Adelaide by bicycle. We are non-smokers.

Hans and I are very good communicators (including some great conversations with the pets during our house sits!), are community-minded and have become part of community projects in Adelaide.

OUR PET EXPERIENCE:

We have had the pleasure and privilege of pet sitting domestic animals and farm animals including dogs, cats, birds and tropical aquariums, chickens, horses, sheep, goats and alpacas.

We feel that pets are an important part of the family, and Hans often calls me a 'dog whisperer' because I always attract them when we are going out for our walks, and we love it!

Currently we don't have any pets of our own but from a young age both Hans and I grew up with pets.

Hans has had a dog and three cats (two with special needs: one pure white with bright blue eyes and completely deaf, and another who needed daily tablets to control her epileptic fits) and several tropical aquariums.

I have had six dogs (a Labrador, a German Shepherd, a Samoyed, two Greyhounds and a Beagle) as well as four cats (two Siamese, a Burmese, and Max the Bombay), and whenever I had dogs and cats together the cats totally ruled the roost!

Among our favourite TV programs are The Dog House, The Supervet, The Yorkshire Vet and various other animal and zoo programs. We also like watching design and house renovations shows.

HOUSEKEEPING:

We have lived in large and small houses with large and small gardens. We have had swimming pools of different types and know how to maintain them keep them in perfect order.

We like to keep the home clean, both inside and out, we always like to maintain the curb appeal of a house and keep the gardens, lawns and pot plants watered and well cared for. We are happy to mow lawns (if required).

I was lucky I found Karen and Hans as they have been excellent in looking after our 2 dogs and 5 cats.. the animals adjusted quickly into their comfortable routines as if I was home. My 18month old border collie x dalmatian didn't walk well on a lead and she had, had some training which Karen and Hans continued her training with the same program. Karen & Hans are not just house sitters, they are animal lovers who spoil your pets. I am cautious with Maya, but nothing was too much. They treated her like their own & happy in every photo. Karen & Hans noticed Maya was not her usual self & got her checked out. Maya stayed at the vets & when they collected her, they had lots of instructions & antibiotics to administer. This was the second time I had lovely Karen and Hans looking after my two cats and my home. My cats were very spoilt and obviously very happy, as shown in the many photos I was sent. They slept on or in the bed and Hans and Karen were happy for them to do so, being great animal lovers themselves. Karen and Hans were fantastic sitters. They were great with communication and were very caring in regards to leaving and returning times, making sure my dog was only left alone for half and hour which I appreciate as this is not always the case with sitters as my dog has been left alone all day sometimes. They were happy to meet the medical needs of my dog who had recent laser surgery which I was very grateful for. Karen and Hans sent me photos of my dog snugged up and curled up on their laps, ... No rating Karen and Hans are fantastic house sitters. They looked after our two standard poodles very well. Took them on beach walks which I dont do so the were spoilt. Followed our instructions in regard to raw feedind. We came back to a spotless house, roses weeded, milk in the fridge also some fruit and vegatables. Would definitely have them again and recommend them.
