Kathryn & Alan

We enjoy moving around exploring new environments. We also enjoy helping people travel and love meeting all the different pets. They bring us a lot of pleasure. We have been house sitting regularly for many years. It is now the way we like to spend our time.

We have lived in Adelaide (as uni students - a long while ago!), a remote Aboriginal community in the Northern Territory (as teachers) ,a five acre rural plot on the outskirts of Darwin (as teachers), London (as teachers), several suburbs in Sydney (as public servants and business owners) and an RV in the USA for eight months (as travellers and explorers).

We both have degrees (Bachelor of Education) and for many years we taught children and adults in a range of different educational school contexts - primary schools, secondary schools, and adults in TAFE and private colleges.

We don't have any pets at the moment (because we like to Housesit and look after lots of different animals) but while living in the Northern Territory, we owned a five acre property where we had a beautiful dingo/Labrador dog called 'Streak' and a feisty wallaby called 'Tumbleweed.' We also had a lovely silver tabby for many years in one of our Sydney homes.

In Sydney, we've lived in a variety of different types of accommodation - an apartment in Glebe with views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, a three story house in Annandale, a heritage listed house in Haberfield, an apartment in the vibrant inner city Multi cultural suburb of Burwood and an apartment in the beachside suburb of DeeWhy. We are very fexible and like to try different types of living abodes in different communities.

We have also lived in a 40 foot RV travelling through the USA. Livin' the life! This was a wonderful experience where we met so many people with so many stories to tell. It truly enriched our lives. We started in LA, headed north to the Yellowstone National Park, dipped our feet in the head waters of the mighty Mississippi River right up North, headed east to be in Vermont in the Fall and reached the east coast at Maine. Then we travelled down the East Coast to the southern tip - Key West before heading west again. Our mobile home was good to us. Our daughter was 11 years old at the time. We home schooled her although the life we were living was the best education.

After this journey, we came back to Sydney so that our daughter could start high school. She then completed a Bachelor degree in Advertising and Media and has now landed her first job with a global media company. And is making her own tracks in life. We are so proud of her! And so proud of ourselves as parents.

We have been traveling around the world for the past year, housesitting in many different countries. We started our journey in USA and have been to Mexico, Costa Rica, England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales; and have sits organised until the end of 2024 in France, Greece and Canada. We will return to Australia in 2025 and continue our housesittin odyssey there for a while and then venture further afield again. We are going to keep on going.

We are very ethical people and if you choose us to take care of your home and your beloved pets you can be sure that we will treat your home with respect and care for your pets as you would.

He was obviously well-cared-for, fed and exercised. They even sent us updates and photos while we were travelling. The house and outside areas were immaculate upon our return home. Kathryn would have been justified in cancelling the sit as she was still recovering from a knee replacement operation but kept the appointment regardless and between herself and Alan kept the house clean as well as took good care of my three cats and twelve goldfish. My wife and I could not speak highly enough of Kathryn and Alan as house sitters. They looked after 1 chook, 2 cats, 4 horses, and 3 dogs, one of which suffers with diabetes. She has diabetes blindness also, and has to be needled twice per day. Not only the animals were treated with care and affection, but the house was kept clean and tidy (probably better than we do).
