48, EA & Project Coordinator
Hi there, I'm Julie, a resident of Sydney's Sutherland Shire with a passion for animal welfare and a healthy lifestyle.
I've been house-sitting for 8 years, taking care of pets, plants and homes. When I started my reason was simply to gain some personal space as I house-shared and having grown up around animals it seemed like the perfect situation. Over the years I've minded all kinds of dog and cat breeds, chickens, cows, ducks, birds, reptiles and fish. I've also taken care of a myriad of tasks and needs around the home, mostly the usual like collecting the mail, bins out, plants & lawns watered. And then sometimes there's the unexpected... like when a large excited doggy knocks a very heavy glass door completely off its track or when there's a few leaks from some torrential rain. I'm not overwhelmed by the unexpected, actually one of my strengths is being able to stay calm and focused in stressful situations.
When it comes to older animals or those with medical conditions, I maintain a steady watch over them to monitor any change in behaviour and health status. I'm experienced with administering pill and liquid medication, intravenous insulin injections, and catering to special needs (including behavioural). In addition, I have looked after lots of rescues and anxious pets, making them feel safe and earning their trust is one of my specialties.
About me personally... I've worked for the same government organisation in Sydney for 20 years, I'm a qualified nutritionist (not currently practicing) and have just bought a home in the Blue Mountains which I'll be living in on and off while I continue to house-sit.
As someone who loves animals, is responsible, mature & trustworthy, I hope to assist you with a worry-free time away while I take care of your precious ones and your home.
