Sitting in a Private capacity before i joined Aussie House sitters

from Susan, O.A.M. -
Curator and Manager,
Yackandandah Museum.
I have known Pam for many years in the capacity as a friend and also as a valued contractor for work completed at the Museum with her design skills and capacity in graphic design.
I have always found her to be skilled, creative and reliable.
She has looked after my home while I have been away on holidays. This involved not only security and care but also looking after livestock and our dog. She did this with care and consideration. I have no hesitation in recommending her to anyone wishing to have their home and property cared for in their absence.

My name is Helen and I am pleased to recommend pam as a suitable person to become a house sitter. I have known pam for many years and know her to be reliable, trustworthy and a intelligent person. She has looked after my home in Melbourne many times when I have been travelling overseas and done an excellent job, maintaining my house caring for my dog and looking after my garden. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending her.

We have known pam for many years and can attest to her honesty and capability to look after animals and property. We run a Limousin cattle stud. We had pam house sit, look after our dog and poultry and check on the cattle daily and water troughs. We would recommend pam to care for animals and take care of their home while the owners are away

Reference for Pam. I would like to recommend Pam as an ideal person to become a house sitter. Pam has looked after our house very well, quite a number of times. Pam is honest and reliable and gives her heart to what is required in minding a house, garden and animals. I heartily recommend Pam to anyone who is seeking a carer for their home and property

March Long Weekend/April 2017 Tooma

I looked after two kelpies and the friendly much loved cat while the owner was away The beautiful place on the edge of the alps provided a great backdrop with amazing skies and open paddocks and beautiful cloud formations A great place
To watch the changing moods of the day

April/May 2017 Jindabyne
My Diary
I looked after sheep alpacas feeding them hay and two dogs with great characters in the alpine country above Jindabyne Beautiful snow gums and a river below edged with golden populars provided beautiful landscapes for walking the dogs accompaning me winding down through a steep paddock of alpine grasses and rocky outcrops to exquisite translucent waters below They enjoyed the swim before the climb back up but it was worth it to have happy dogs who also enjoyed exploring Lake Jindabyne and it's foreshore was a good place to be as well as the W river crossing on the road up to Mt Kosiosko with the walk from there along the river and a shadow of a platypus in the deep cool waters The owner came back for awhile to take her Mum to an appointment then left again to continue her holiday [Her Mum lived downstairs and I visited her to make sure she was ok]
During the time she returned she took me up to the mountain with her son to enjoy the first snow fall of the season and to the Brumby distillery on the Thredbo road

May/June 2017 Mogo
My Diary
I enjoyed walking the two dogs around their land and in the state forest backing onto the property
Chooks and a vegetable garden were special Opposite Mogo Zoo I could enjoy breakfast on the verandah with the air filled with morning calls from the monkeys and calls or roars from other animals at the zoo. Not far away was Tomakin with great beaches to walk Guerilla Bay which i love with walks around the headland Broulee Island to circle and the beautiful long beach heading south towards the airport I walked towards but didn't go that far The dogs didn't go off property

June/July 2017 Manyanna
My Diary
I loved walking Jedda Having sea views from the verandah to absorb it was close to Yedda beach which meant long walks something that she loved You couldnt tire her out so we walked long distances wth the longest - twelve kms and she could still keep going We walked around Bendalong to washerwomans beach with sting rays laying in the warm shallows and onto the next bay where we rested but Jedda still wanted to play To explore further near flat rock beach we drove to a carpark Walking towards Berrera along long beaches the only thing that stopped us was a rocky sea cliff that was impassable On the way back a sign stood out that I had missed - No Dogs I wasn't sure if that meant the lagoon or the whole beach area that we had explored We didn't visit again but returned back to Manyanna Jedda was good at jumping and decided one day to go on her own journey from the backyard I was told that she was seen at I spent a long time and a long walk looking for her all the way to Cungerong point and around the streets there It was an anxious time I returned by myself A neighbour placed the event on the community noticeboard and later that night a knock on the door returned Jedda home He was a friend of the owner in the Bastion Had tried ringing but that was going to a phone in Africa Not hearing he kept Jedda at home who was entertaining his children After that Jedda had to stay indoors or on the verandah if we were not walking She would have me do it non stop I did walk back to Cungerong point with her
Jedda was a beautiful kelpie

July 10th - 26th July 2017 Narooma
My Diary
Looked after a small dog that enjoyed walking both around the area and on beaches The house was set in a beautiful tiered garden one long walk we made the journey down 130 steps to the main bridge across the bridge and around the path of the estuary and along the road to the bar and exit into the sea until we ran out of safe walking space along the road and gave up Walking back we made it to the top of the steps and we walking back to the house when a stray dog untethered decided to say hello The dog attached to me was having nothing of it and decided to show what he was made of and fight I don't know where he found the energy We didn't try a long walk like that again but did visit the beaches towards Dalmeny He shared fish and chips with me watching the ocean from a picnic table at Kiara safe on the headland and no one to interrupt his space

I looked after a small property at Far Meadow between the 10th September and the 24th October Two dogs to keep company Also feeding other animals; shetland pony, donkey and sheep The donkey and I became friends enjoying its head scratched
The beaches nearby at Sholehaven were beautiful While i was there I waked the 7km walk sholehaven to the river mouth and back again except the tide had changed and soft sand made it a slow return Fantastic storm clouds made an exciting backdrop over the sea Beautiful towns nearby - Gerroa and Gerringong made the area special

10th Jan to 7th Feb 2018 Nowra
My Diary
I cared for a friendly Kelpie Sally, and a cat close to Bens walk walking along the creek that flowed into the Sholehaven river A beautiful environment to walk with the Sally close to Town The stone formations were exciting along this walk and overhangs that would have created shelters During a hot and dry time it was a beautiful garden to look after

22 March - 3 April 2018
Lake Conjola
My Diary
Looked after two labradors taking them to beaches and places on the lake They enjoyed long walks and playing They also enjoyed sharing with me returning to Yedda Beach at Manyanna and moonlight beach walks Special times were night beach walks and full moon especially the fire works display - the blessing of the fleet at Ulladulla seen from a distant beach from Conjola Beach

3 April - 26 April 2018
Batemans Bay
My Diary
Looked after two fish tanks the garden and watered pot plants Kept in contact with the owners while they were travelling overseas which ended up involving things for his business

28 April - 13 June 2018

My Diary
I took care of a beautiful Kelpie while the owners were travelling overseas She loved her drives to beaches and walking, so long as she was entertained with her ball Favourite places were Camel rock and Haywards beach including night walking in the moonlight and playing ball provided she could find it as i couldnt see it She loved the place below Tilba Cemetery with the long beach stretching away both directions In Bermagui, Bears Beach nearby and Cuttagee Beach south of Bermagui were also great places to walk and experience with exciting rockscapes The beautiful garden and pot plants were easy to look after while going through a low rain period

23 june - 27 july
Sussex Inlet
Looked after two beautiful dogs Coolies - Zane and Zailly They were great company and genuine I also looked after the sheep needing care because it was so dry. I enjoyed the dogs company they are so loving Walks were around the back of the property they enjoyed every day Sometimes they had a visit from the owners Mum and her border collie and I was able to help out when she needed to leave him for awhile while she did other things or went to her sewing class in Nowra Explored around the lake and out to Berrera The creek was always high so I couldn't cross to the longer beach stretching south but enjoyed the rock platforms and short beach towards the north

27 july - 3 October 2018 Eurobodalla locality near Bodalla
Looking after a small property With a beautiful dog wolfhound indoor outdoor and a cat always indoors that loved to try and escape when you went out the door I T
Took the dog to beaches which she loved enjoying the walks
Feeding chooks letting them out for their daily discoveries It was dry and on tank water there was limited garden watering A great view across the paddock to a dam filled with mist in the mornings

Camping at Mystery Bay
October 2018
I wasnt sure where I was going to go to camp Looked at Dalmeney first but large caravans fill the site and it is a fairly open site close to shops I like more trees even though the view from their is majestic towards Potato point - maybe another time Even though i love the views north and the wild long beach I was worried about the winds with not enough protection so l kept driving At Narooma the headland caravan park with the view of glasshouse rocks is great but then i realised i wasnt far from mystery bay and affordable even though i have to experience tics The wind goes over the top and the location i like faces sunrise and Montague island and the sweep of the lighthouse Camping on the edge of the cliff with the waves crashing on the sea stacks and rock outcrops below changing watercolour was great to listen to You cant get down to from that place but you can experience the view and a great place to witmess and watch the majesty of whales Loving long beach walks in both directions north and south
Walking north i could have walked as far as handkerchief beach at low tide which i had to plan carefully because i couldnt scale the sea cliffs along one section if i needed to In the end i didnt have to worry about time A thunderstorm drenched me and i had to turn around and make it back to my tent in the jeavy downpour and dramatic skies
Loved the atmosphere and the beaches stretching away from you at low tide Favouite place the view from the headland picnic table above 1080 beach Walked on 1080 a favourite place Amazing place including a place I love - Camel rock location and Horseshoe rock although I think it looks more like a stallion rising from the sea Spent time photographing the power of the Sea and the rock formation Enjoyed being able to reach this place at low tide and at sea level instead of cliff watching A long walk - walked along the beach from 1080 Beach to Wallaga Lake and return A long journey but worth the experience absorbing the location beautiful enjoying long beaches I didmt realise that because of low rainfall and changed weather that the lake was not flowing into the sea I was expecting a barrier except it wasnt there and i could reach the headland i thought about walking further around the headland to camel rock but i had to stop myself I had already walked a long way and I had to retrace my footsteps back to my ute at 1080 headland part of it returning in the dark

At Lake Conjola Oct - Nov 2018 I looked after two fun dashounds at Lake Conjola discovering walkways from the back of the house that lead to the beach They were amazing and joined me walking the length of the beach to the rocks [going south] enjoying the moon rise over the ocean and amazing cloud sculptures I think they could fly - they appeared to have great fun A quiet place to relax in a beautiful backyard backing onto and sheltered by natural bush

November 2018 Spent time at Cungerong point in a beach hut While at Lake Conjola this headland was the view - the opposite side of the lake from Lake Conjola With the water levels low both were connected by beach - not seperated by the lake flowing into the sea. A uniquely beautiful stretch of beach sheltered by Green Island, with magic sunsets and to the west the magic view of Pigeon Mountain silhouetted, a distinctive amazing monolith Defined by the sinking sun and dramatic cloud patterns
experienced one evening it captivated me highlighted by amazing sweeps of cloud. Deciding not to rain but rather to catch the light and colour with its volume, lightening dancing across the space. Dramatic cloud and sharp outlines drawn on the beach reminded me of Munchs works that he captured in Norway.

Nov - Dec 2018 House sitting at Callala Bay with Molly The creek flow was low and not connected to the ocean so tides didnt limit the choice of time to walk along the wild beach on the edge of the national park Walking to red rock a distinctive rock on the point of jervis bay Molly enjoyed the challenge walking to this point or other days only the partial length We also walked the other direction enjoying one late afternoon evening walk as far as Callala Beach, enjoying the ambience created by the clouds and the sound of the waves.
Returned to Batemans Bay to use a technician for my laptops Not knowing how much this was going to cost i couldnt pay for a camping site or accomodation and also pay for my laptops to be fixed so i stayed at Maloneys Beach in my ute not far from North Head. I enjoyed the point at Moloneys Beach [Bateman Bay] I intended to walk to North Head and the distinctive rocks marking the location visible from the other side of the bay that i had viewed but changeable weather and extreme at times overwhelming strong winds decided against that idea
I collected my laptops on Friday before closing then drove north to Geroa where i thought i was going to camp but i got there to late so i slept on the headland in my ute facing the right way to witness sunrise

Gerringong December 2018
Then meeting up at lovely Gerringong for a house sit looking after Sophie a Beaglier with a beautiful face who had me wrapped around her paw Walking the headland and on the beach but so long as i stayed on the sand dune edge a long way from the water and the crashing waves Near the waves and on the waters edge was not for her She loved company while her family was on holidays got on well together Also walked around the streets at night looking at the christmas lights

Four days camping at Gerringong just in time to experience a thunderstorm that seemed to last forever during the night but still managed to give a beautiful beach day the next day A long beach to walk ending at the lake and cliff face a favourite place of Australian artist Lloyd Rees

December 19 - Jan 7 2019
Tapitalliee looking after garden vegetable garden and guniea pigs
The block has local tree vegetation both facing the road and the backyard attracting many birds To start with had two days with Chief - [Alsatian] before he went on holidays Missed not having him for the rest of the time Found Bangalese Reserve with a beautiful Jetty on the Sholehaven river A good place to read a book
Similar bush to that around Bens walk along a tributary running into the Sholehaven River in Nowra
Tallimba Road, Tapitallee is a very green area with well landscaped gardens area on large blocks a 'green' road This block has lots of trees so birds love it
My ute decided to have an attack
Which involved NRMA and a tow truck [mick] Had to wait until the en d of the sit and the end of the weekend then i had my ute checked at Raw Mechanics South Nowra That night i slept in a Transit Van in his yard instead of sleeping in my ute cab A Far more comfortable experience and something i was extrely grateful for After my ute was fixed i needed coast remembering Greenwell Point that Kay from Nowra took me to I went there I couldnt afford to camp most sites if available were around $68 to $70 a night - ok if you are more than one person I slept in my ute on the estaury for a few days then moved to the carpark near search and rescue on Crookwell Point spending the days on the beach at Currayong before moving south filling in time until 16 january

Bawley Point North Head
14 jan - 16 jan 2020
To start with I had the whole beach to myself I had walked towards the end so it was quiet special A lagoon behind the sand dunes also created a unique environment I slept in my ute Couldnt afford costs like $68 for a unpowered tent site so i have to choose low key living during this time of the year On the small headland surrouned by sea rock platforms and shallow cliffs and natural bush
defined the area Listening to the waves watching the sea eagle Still havent solved mossies!!!!! Good to be near saltwater Moved to the other side of the point with grass slopes The waves were still powerful here in this section of the bay sculptered by the wind direction Good to cool off Retreated to the grass and tree shadows reading hiding from the heat laying flat as opposed to sleeping in my ute with a handbrake interrupting comfort
Before i drive to East Lynne i have to go to Pretty Beach Arriving early i a lmost have the beach to myself before breakfast is over in the parks camp and the influx arrives
The wind direction doesnt change the wave flow so it is gentle to be in the water and amazing sand bar Except for the water flow pulls across the front of the beach and exits around the rocks pulling me off the sand bar But i have to find something to eat cafe at
And somewhere to change before i drive to East Lynne after lunch
Beautiful places in Murramarang National Park great beaches to curl up on but i have to go

East Lynne 16 jan - 24 jan 2020
Extended a few days because the sit was near Australia day and was great to have a quiet place to fill in those days 25 - 26 jan Appreciated their kindness and help Even though the small acerage is flanked by the princes highway and Mt Agony road at East Lynne, the tree plantings soften sound The tree plantings have created many rooms linking a beautiful garden and veggie gardens Iggy was a great friend Enjoyed walking and staying close Loved south durras beach a dog friendly beach entertaining himself with blue bottles [attaching back i think] He was game Beautiful beaches at North Durras and Depot Beach
Pebbly beach was also near but a favourite is Pretty beach which i had visited before I arrived at this house sit There was many hot nights and magic thunderstorms A wide outdoor area on the deck opposite the kitchen created a peaceful place to relax even a place for hot nights or watching the thunderstorms They made my watering easy Chooks provided a never ending supply of eggs Dylan and Barbara were very friendly and helpful

North Narooma 27 jan - 10 feb 2020
Looking after a kelpie/border collie Kelly and blue heelercross named Jack. Jack decided he was my protection and slept at the end of my bed Both were beautiful dogs and great to spend time with Ginger the cat decided i was only needed ast meal times
The property was high up at the end of riverview drive in North Narooma A very quiet and beautiful garden Plenty of tracks to explore that also went down to the estaury river frontage the dogs loved and were fitter than me They loved the walk Loved chasing balls
In the garden I chose to spend my time staying except for going into Narooma for essentials

11 feb - 17 march St Georges Basin 2020
Caring for Bolt poodle cross He was a very affectionate dog who wanted to be close sitting on top of you when you put the foot rest up and sleeping on the bed which he was used to The unit was at the back which backed onto a protected bush corridor which changed the feel of living in a housing estate. Could walk to the edge of St Georges basin and foreshore which ended up a long way The beaches on jervis bay a place i love were a distance away which required driving to Nelson Beach was a beautiful location and leash free which i tried but Bolt bolted He ran the length of the beach in a very short time then up to the car park Took awilt to re cvonnect so after that he still got his walk but attached to the leash
Went late mostly so he didnt get upset by other dogs running free and so I could watch the light fading and the lighthouse lights on point perpendicular Also the silhouettes of the ships and the lights one afternoon the air was filled with red dust reducing visibilty to a minimum and creating an eerie light and water colour fantastic for photographs We also tried the lease free beach at Husskinson to Myloa creek but on a lead I think he became resigned to it - mostly but he was very determined to bolt It was safer to keep him walking beside me
Loved Greenfields Beach a beautiful environment unique special but later visiting the beach at 10pm the fence posts connected with my ute and had a life changing affect on panels and me Something it took me a long time to get over and to save up to repair it Delayed leaving due to extremely heavy rain I made a meal of chicked tacos and salad for when Kay returned with her realtive and friend
Green Patch Camped two nights three days in the National park relaxing not driving any where Spent the day at the cove around from Greenpatch between Bristol point mostly all to my self reading and walking into the water to cool off Nights on the beach watching the light and the moon near full moon appearing and disappearing with the cloud cover and night movements on the water I love the areas around Greenpatch I was going to drive to the Cove and experience B Beach It is on/near the exit of St Georges Basin water into the sea and opposite sussex inlet where i had had a house sit so i was really interested in visiting It sounds a unique place I would have loved to stay but i couldnt afford to spend money i had saved to repair my ute It was the priority and i the end i decided to leave the 30 km dirt road for another day another time when maybe i could stay Probably more fun to spend longer than just a drive in. The Beach itself appears to be long and a challenge in its self
Driving south I always loved Camel rock Spent the night in my ute facing the moon rising over camel rock and the sihouettes created by the light Slept for awhile I think tea was at 2am cooking on my gas stove Also needing to free camp!!
It is always great to see sunrise over the sea seems like a good way to start the day and walking early on the beach The sand is soft not good for walking but around the rocks of Camel rock and the Watcher the sea crashing dancing high always makes me feel good
Breakfast was fish and chips!!! on the headland of Bermagui facing Gulaga and the beautiful beaches like 1080 and Tilba beach wild beaches Looking at it now I dont believe that i walked that far from 1080 carpark to Wallaga Lake headland and back Eating and reading on the headland feels funny not having a dog with me to look after but l had to start driving south I wanted to revisit Gillards Beach before I made it to Merrimbula I remembered the long beach but the camping areas i think have been reduced and fenced into areas Plenty of people seemed to be camping there but i almost had the beach to myself at lowtide in both directions You could connect to middle beach in the north and nelson beach and cove in the south But i dont feel energetic and i dont have time so i just pick a spot and read ..... sleep
Laying flat I said i was going to make it to merimbula after three so that plus roadworks on the sapphire coast road made it defintely after three

Merimbula 22 march - 8 june 2020
Soon after I arrived we walked Cario a Belgian Shepherd up a steep hill to the Merribool Estate from Berrambool Drive After puffing discovered a great view over the Merimbula estaury the connecting bridge and main beach Later before a meal at the club they showed me Fishpen and places to park to take Cario walking on Main Beach 7km to Pambula but Cario and i havent walked that far He is 9
Beautiful deck to sit on to read and to enjoy the view Rocky outcrop in the distance the far point of
Ben Boyd national park It great to view the sea from the house Cario loved going to Dolphin point It was a long beach with a view to then island attatched Mostly it was just entertaining Cario and reading as it wasnt leash free
Kings Point
Mollymook
Pretty Beach

Merrimbula

Wyndham
fires - house was lost

camping at Merrimbula on the headland

Coolagolite 10 March - 6 March
stayed as owner is going away again between 9 March - 16 March
farm sit 3 horses and two beautiful chocolate brown labradors Daisy and George
The fires had devastated this area with the fire burning right up to the house I watched as things returned and the paddocks became green again - the grass growing up to my knees This provided a challenge to walk the dogs and an experience that I didnt plan on With the dogs i jumped the creek and landed right next to the head end of a very long brown snake I froze scared for the dogs daisy beside me and the george behind me After what seemed like forever it went between me and daisy and into the creek

Bermagui 4 April 2000

Bithry Inlet Wapengo Lagoon
Mystery Bay camp ground closed 1080 Beach
Narooma
[covid - stay st home] !!!
Through a home owner that i was going to sit for in the future but had to be cancelled and her friend who owned it, i was offered a house at Narooma. It was amazing to have some where with no house sits and all camping grounds closed. It had been empty for over six months but it provided a place to sit and shelter A place where i was able to 'Stay at Home' during those early weeks in April when Covid altered everyones plans and we all had to hibernate The sit continued over seven months.
An overgrown garden provided exercise and entertainment By the time it was tamed and i had placed an ever growing pile at the front for easy removal the pile was deceptively huge It took a three ton truck and five trips to take it all to the tip - part of getting the place ready for selling and a way to help

Pam was excellent as usual and we already have her booked in for another sit. Our fur babies absolutely love her and so does our garden. She is extremely trustworthy and we have no hesitation in recommending her. Claude

LINDY (Lochiel NSW, Dec 2023 - 1 week)
We have never used this service before and after 3weeks returned to relaxed happy pets and a wonderfully maintained garden. Pam is a great house sitter.

CAROLYN (Moruya Heads NSW, Jul 2023 - 2 weeks 4 nights)
Pam allowed us to have a stress free break away from our pets, house and garden, caring for everything just as we had hoped. Her calm gentle manner put the two cats and two dogs at ease and they obviously were happy and relaxed with her when we returned. Pam looked after our house, plants and two cats really well for a month, even giving them new foods to try. We were so pleased to return to milk, cheese, butter and eggs in the fridge and two homemade quiches in the freezer. Definitely recommend, very careful housesitter.

MEL (Narooma NSW, Jan 2022 - 4 weeks)
We had Pam house sit for us on our small acreage while we holidayed interstate, she got on very well with our two boisterous dogs and quirky horse, a source of amusement. She was happy to do any gardening and yard work that required attention. She is a caring person and a good communicator and we hope that she will come back again for future house sits.

Pam was a fantastic house sitter for us, we've even rebooked to have Pam to stay again. Pam was very good at communicating before she arrived and gave us pet updates whilst we were away. We happened to have a sick cow when Pam arrived and she looked after her really well with lots of love and attention as well as administering medication. She's competent using a zero turn mower, tractor and back hoe. We would highly recommend having Pam to stay

No rating Pam has house sat for me for a month. During that time she fed my sheep and alpacas, she also looked after and walked my dogs. I also asked Pam to check on my elderly mother who lives in a granny flat at my home, and in fact Pam ended up caring for my mum's dog while my mum was away. Everything was good when I returned home, the animals were all well and happy, and I wish Pam well in her house sitting adventures. Thanks Pam!
