Alan & Helen

Hi. Unfortunately due to ill health in our family in SA, Vic and NSW, we are unable to accepts sits at the present moment. We need to keep our calendar clear for short notice trips.

We're Alan and Helen, non-smokers and residents at Forest Glen on Qld's beautiful Sunshine Coast. We are both from Adelaide originally. We have friends and family in Adelaide's northern and southern suburbs and are flexible with location for sits, though our four beautiful grandchildren are in the Hallett Cove area so southern suburbs are preferred.

Prior to moving into our present home, we house sat for 9 months. 14 dogs, 5 chooks, 3 cats, two goldfish and one pony later, we find ourselves keen and happy to do so again. We loved all the animals we cared for and references are available on request. We undertake to care for your home, pets and animals, as we would our own. We have just made a return visit (about our 20th) to one of our favourite stays, only a 5 minute drive from our home at Forest Glen, We have stayed in touch with Ava (Staffy/HeelerX) and Puncey the pony, not to mention lovely friends Dawn and Jack the owners. Caring for two acres, a dog and pony is a little like having a country retreat a few minutes drive away. Dawn is only too happy to provide a reference on request. Alan is happy on a ride-on mower and with general maintenance. Whilst we don't consider ourselves "equine experts", we do recognise when a horse or pony is not feeling well and are happy with larger animals. The dogs we loved varied from a Wolfhound to a miniature Foxie! Each were individuals but the common trait was they loved the company as we did.

Whilst we realise the use of an "on site" vehicle is not normally a part of the house sitting policy, we would encourage anyone who is willing to loan us a roadworthy car for the majority of our required sit to contact us. It is relatively cheap for us to fly to SA and back, but as with all locations at the moment, the price of hire cars is prohibitive for any length of time. We would of course be happy to negotiate a "loan fee" and we both have good driving records. The vehicle is not essential of course, but could make the difference between making a trip, or not!
