Hello! I am looking for someone to care for my 4yo golden retriever, Nugget (aka Nugz) as I am traveling overseas for work. I rescued her 1.5 years ago, not knowing much about her history this girl had evidently gone through some trauma, but has come such a long way and I'm excited for her to build a new relationship with someone while I'm away.

Nugz isn't your typical golden, she takes time to trust people, but once she learns you are not a threat and understands your intentions = she will warm up to you and maybe even show you some affection if you're lucky!

I'm looking for someone that is experienced in and understands reactive and nervous dogs. Nugz is fear reactive so cannot be around kids or other dogs. Nugz resource guards food & toys with strangers and space is her safety. She doesn't like loud sudden noises and sometimes gets startled on walks.

Nugz is a low energy dog, I take her on two leash walks a day and have lots of enrichment puzzles and games for her. Nugz has night blindness so for this reason I avoid walking her at night.

Nugz is VERY food motivated, the best way to bond with her is playing games and doing tricks - she will love you forever (and those begging eyes will definitely get you!)

Toilet trained. and an inside dog. She will stand at the back door when she needs to go out to the toilet (if you're not in the room she will bark). I leave her inside while I'm at work, once she finishes her puzzle she mostly just sleeps. She is very chill.

A meet and greet including coming for a walk with us so I can show you our walking routes and get Nugz used to you.

She is an absolute dork and some of her quirks will have you chuckling. And yes, I named her after Chicken Nuggets!

medicationMedication/treatment required

Only if taking her to the vet for an emergency. I have some tablets for sedation. Additionally she receives a liquid supplement for her joints daily - this is given orally but can also just be placed in her food if more comfortable (although great bonding as she thinks its an extra treat and loves it).

Our garden

local_floristGarden or plant care

Minimal - Some house plants that require light watering. Some outdoor plants that require watering if it hasn't rained in a while.

Hello! I'm a 38 yo single female working in TV. I sometimes travel for work and Nugz' usual sitters are all currently away. I'm fairly active and enjoy a quieter social life (since getting Nugz).
