Our home

Our house is a large, 30 year old 2 floor house that is partly renovated. The back is blocked off at the moment for the kitchen renovation. The top floor is all renovated. There is a new kitchen living room there for you to use and the downstairs bedroom, where you would sleep, is also modern, along with the bathrooms.

We're looking for a house sitter in Sydney's beautiful Northern Beaches for our gorgeous 12 year old Spaniel dog Dexter and our 2 year old rescue pup Indie. Indie can be a bit excitable and jump up to greet people but generally just sleeps and loves cuddles.

The main thing is we need someone loving who will use only positive reinforcement methods (she will do anything for a treat!).

The dogs would ideally have 2 20-30 min lead walks a day. They are used to sleeping in our room so ideally we would have someone comfortable with that arrangement. They’re very quiet at night, they are just used to company.

Ideal would be a single female or young couple who will be around a lot as the dogs like a quiet life and Dexter is occasionally scared of older men. You would need to stay mainly in the house and garden (we do have a heated pool) but the dogs can be left for up to 4.5 hours at a time. We have a granny flat at the back of the garden lived in by a lovely older lady. She would be happy to let the dogs out if needed if you were out. They love going to visit her for treats!

We would love to find someone who is also available for 2.5 weeks from 27 September.

No other pets and no families- sorry!

favoriteWhat we love about our area

Our house is 10 mins walk (up a big hill) from the centre of Mona Vale with independent shops, supermarkets, bars, restaurants etc. so you don't need a car. Another 10 mins and you're at the beach. Within 15 mins drive you have 14 beaches! The B line (15 mins walk away)runs to the city every 5 mins.

Our pets

We have a 12 year old English spaniel called Dexter. He is pretty relaxed these days and spends a lot of time sleeping. He occasionally barks at loud noises but is generally chilled out and loves a cuddle.

We also have a 2 year old rescue pup Indie. She is super cute and sweet, still bouncy and excitable sometimes. She sleeps a lot and is very loving and happy. The dogs get on fine together. Dexter occasionally growls at Indie to put her in his place if she gets in his space.

medicationMedication/treatment required

Dexter has 2 tablets in a piece of cheese every morning. It's easy to give him and our last sitters had no problems- sometimes he spits them out and we have to give another piece of cheese but its not difficult.

We had a great sit with Dex and Indie, Jacinta has a lovely home in Mona Vale close to a dog park, supermarkets and the beach. Dex and Indie are such a gorgeous pair of dogs who followed me around everywhere giving me lots of love and attention, which I felt very lucky to get to enjoy! They are also great cuddle companions on the sofa and bed, I'm missing them already.
Jacinta and Marco are very welcoming, helpful and friendly people. They provided a thorough list of instructions and met me beforehand to make sure I was happy with everything. Indi the puppy is very sweet and excitable and Dexter is a very good boy; they are easy to look after and make really lovely company. The house has everything to make sure you have a comfortable stay, and is in a safe and quiet area with frequent buses. Jacinta and Marco were generous enough to let me stay inbetween sits ...
