Hello and welcome

I am heading to the coast for a few weeks and my hubby works away remotely so I need a farm sitter - I have never had a disappointed visitor or sitter.... I live in Northern Tasmania close to many things many walks and waterfalls in a farm area. 20 mins from Deloraine - one hour to Devonport.

I tell everyone I live in gods country! It's beautiful, secluded and quiet surrounded by farms with lovely mountain views.

The sit: I have one old puddy cat although he thinks he's a dog. He now sleeps most of the time but will supervise the activities once he knows you ..
I have one horse and a pony who are my main focus and not an issue as they are on restricted grass . They require approx 30 mins each morning and night to feed , rotate paddocks, clean up after them etc, this includes collecting their poop but trust me it's fine! Using a rake and wheelbarrow. I prefer people who know horses or have a farm sit background please- However happy to consider as I have had people with less experience and my horse and pony are quiet. I have gardens and veg patch as well as some mowing.

I do this work by myself it’s not a huge impost daily .

My house and the area is great for someone who loves art, craft, is a photographers heaven, artist in residence!!
A car or ute is available if required for local use only to go to the shops at Deloraine or Launceston, one hour away or local walks.

Someone active please or understand this is a rural farm even though it is now minimal 30 min tasks am and pm it requires some physical work with wheelbarrow mowers and hay net filling moving electric tape fences .

Internet -please note- none at the house however I and all my sitter's hotspot from Telstra phone or Optus is fine .
I have had many sitters running business and working from home with no issues Including my current /most recent return sitter who runs a business.

sorry- No room and not suitable for young children and no pets but having said that I would consider a small well-trained quiet dog if you are travelling - noting I have chickens and a cat.

I’m happy to have a caravan parked on site if needed i.e. you're travelling. Have water and power.

There is a seperate area and bathroom - bedroom for sitters with the kitchen in the main house along with sitting room- tv .

Please message if you are interested and please be patient I have lots of enquires but respond to everyone.
Thank you

Best wishes Dominique

side notes- I have had many housesitters now over the years please read my ad carefully . There is physical work though not strenuous Involved here hence asking for farm sitters work is twice a day am and pm and minimal as prescribed and set times- as animals are creatures of habit.

This is a non-smoking home and property.

Footnote:

Sadly, after having sitters for 12 years last year was bizarre with people wasting my time, so with regret I say: If you are from overseas and NOT in Tasmania please do not apply also if you are unemployed the same applies.

Average - Garden watering maybe required and some mowing - I have a ride on mower to do a driveway and small lawn area and some small lawns with a push mower and /or a brush cutter. I would say minimal if section done over a few days or altogether I’d say would be total of 30 -40 minutes .
House plants and verandah plants also require watering

I had a wonderful time looking after the animals and property- i enjoyed experiencing a different lifestyle. The area is beautiful. There are lots of great walks. I had my own area - bedroom and bathroom and a room where i kept my yoga mat. I used the kitchen and lounge. Dominique stayed for 2 days . She is very communicable and easy to chat with. Not phased at any issues that arose or questions i messaged and answered promptly. Extra treat were the fresh eggs and blackcurrants. ... Also loved being able to care for the two horses and a gorgeous pony! Such fun with chickens and a cockerel waiting for me each morning. Would be happy to offer to sit again if i came over to Tassie.

Dominique and Dean were very welcoming. We spent the first couple of days together with Dominique, so there was plenty of time to get a clear view on the daily tasks. The house is in a very scenic area, so everywhere you look, you get amazed by the views! Dean arrived home during the last days of our stay and provided us with plenty of tips and stories.
Dominique had kept in touch prior to our arrival. Upon arrival Dean had cooked us a lovely meal. We enjoyed our stay and the animals were delightful. Loved the horses. The house was comfortable and warm and the bed was something else. So cosy. Caveside was a nice area and we were fortunate to be there when the Deloraine Craft Show was on. Thank you Dominique and Dean.
Firstly, I'll quote the owners 'this sit is not for everyone'! Some may find this Sit way out of their comfort zone and I'm sure others will have a ball. The duties include daily care for four cats and three beautiful horses. The routine is regimented and must be done twice daily. The horses require people who are not intimidated by large animals and have a moderate level of fitness. We enjoyed our stay with Dean and Dominique. We enjoyed our stay with Dean and Dominique. It was a 'different house sit' for us, with Dean arriving home early and Dominique now working locally being home almost every night. They share their home with the sitters and make them feel welcome. It's a very comfortable house with shared lounge, bathroom and kitchen. The Caveside area is beautiful with close views of the Great Western Tiers. Photographers and landscape artists will have abundant opportunities. Deloraine is the local historic town with all amenities available. Launceston is a close drive for those who need a city. Tasmania has numerous 'big' objects most of which are within a comfortable drive. For those who enjoy caving or bushwalking there are many opportunities available. The Mole Creek Caves should be high on everyone's list.

Thank you . To clarify I worked locally for three weeks whilst someone was on holiday to help out and I am now back working away in my Normal role again.
Dominique and Dean made us very welcome they have a great place in Tasmania, it's a dead end road very scenic and quiet. Excellent views all around the property, most enjoyable place. Very comfortable home, easy care with the cats and horses. We would like to come back again, as we enjoyed it that much. Thank you for letting us stay in your wonderful home and property.
This was my first house sit and how fortunate I was to have the loveliest person ever. Dominique and Dean live in the most gorgeous spot ever. I was made to feel welcome and Dominique went above and beyond (Dean was away at work). Four lovely cats and three very well mannered horses. Would go back anytime

Dominique and Dean are a lovely, sincere couple who are easy to get along with. Their home is cosy and the animals were a pleasure to care for. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Caveside and would certainly recommend them to any prospective house sitters.
