Our home

Same sex couple who live in a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house in Mt Barker in a quiet neighbourhood. You will be in the spare bedroom with a double bed and linen provided. The house is fully furnished, all main rooms have reverse cycle air conditioners, and we have a fireplace available for use in the dining/kitchen area which warms the house up nicely.

The garden does not need to be tended to if you do not wish to, but we would appreciate the vegetables getting watered every few days.

favoriteWhat we love about our area

Only about 30-40mins from the CBD depending on traffic. There is a lot to do and see in the Hills from wineries, national parks and a lot of great cafes in town as well as in towns that aren't too hard to get to. Our street is quiet & neighbours are polite.

Hallie - 12 year old German Shepherd X. She is a fairly anxious dog and doesn't like doors creaking (will need to make sure they are shut properly). She is also a fussy drinker and often needs to be encouraged to drink her water while someone stands with her, the same goes for going out for toilet. She is a real people person and loves a pat/cuddle. Over her many years she has unfortunately been attacked by a number of dogs and as a result isn't dog friendly.

She does not need to be walked for the period we are away if you do not feel like it, if you want to just a short one to the grassy park area at the end of the street and back is enough for her to have a stretch and sniff. If she is looking a bit sore then let her rest and do not make her go.

Franklin- Nearly 1 year old puppy. High energy, loves attention, food, playing and walks. He's a pretty typical puppy so can be naughty at times, but is very clever. Is toilet trained and generally will let you know if he needs to go outside. Loves other dogs and loves going for a walk.

3 aquariums - need to be fed once every 3 days.

2 geckoes- Snacks & Nibbles. Will need to be fed some crickets every 2-3 days (approx 6) in the evening. Spray down enclosure with water at night for them to lick up 2 x while we are gone.

1 bearded dragon- Ripley. She is currently brumating (hibernating) at time of ad posting and will hopefully stay asleep while we are gone. If she is awake/wakes up during our time away we will let you know what to do for her.

medicationMedication/treatment required

Hallie is on some medications for her arthritis and requires this to be given with her food in the morning and evening. She will eat the pills quite easily if mixed in with her food (such a good girl). The medication will be sorted into AM and PM for each day we are gone to avoid confusion with dosage.

Thanks Jamie and Ben for trusting us with your home, fur babies, fish and lizards. Halle and Franklin were a treat to care for, both are so adorable. Jamie and Ben were very welcoming and their communication was great. They kept in touch ensuring everything was going smoothly. The house was lovely and comfortable with easy to maintain yard. Thank you both and would highly recommend this sit. Wendy and Quentin
Jamie and Ben have a lovely, bright, comfortable home in the Adelaide Hills area. Their communication was polite and was sent in a timely manner. A comprehensive list of required feeding schedules for their "babies" was greatly appreciated as there were definite routines to be maintained. Their food and medication were all prepared and organised beforehand so there was no guesswork. Hallie, their beautiful aging doggo was a joy to spend time with and was accepting of my presence in her home. Ripley, the bearded dragon, the 2 Barking Geckos and their stunning tropical fishtanks were part of the feeding schedule as well. Overall I was made to feel welcome and appreciated by Ben and Jamie and I wouldn't hesitate to sit for them and their babies again if asked.

Thank you so much for having us! All the pets were really fun to look after. It was our first time looking after fish and reptiles which was a positive first experience. The house is so homely, we played games and had the lovely company of Hallie with us. She’s really easy to take care of and such a sweet dog. Everything is just so homely, we wish we could have spent more time there :( thank you again for picking us!
Jamie and Ben are a lovely couple and have a fantastic home and two very loving dogs who were a pleasure to sit for and very well behaved They have an amazing lounge/entertainment setup to watch movies on & a very neat backyard that is well kept & nice to enjoy a meal outdoors. Plenty of room for parking, a nice quiet street and excellent taste, one does not simply walk into their home without admiring :)
