Our home

Our home is situated on 40 acres, just 8 kms west of Echuca, and our land backs onto the Murray River. Our past house sitters have commented how quiet and comfortable our place is.

The house is 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 living spaces, north facing with verandas all the way round. Heating is 2 wood fired heaters with plenty of firewood provided. Cooling is evaporative. There is Wi-Fi and mobile phone reception. There is a pool but not heated in winter.

Our farmlet has 7 irrigated paddocks and over 20 acres of redgum bush. All paddocks have automatic water troughs.

Our 20 acres of bush adjoins the Murray River Reserve giving you access to over 6 kms of walking/riding tracks and fishing in the Murray River.

There is plenty of room to park a caravan if required.

favoriteWhat we love about our area

Our property is very peaceful with wildlife and birds and the Murray River only 500 meters from our house. Echuca is a lovely rural tourist town in Northern Victoria. Famous for its Paddle steamers. Echuca’s population is around 15000 with plenty to see and do, good restaurants and services.

Our pets

There are two horses to care for called Remie and Asta. They need feeding morning and night. They are well behaved and easy to handle.  But you must be confident around horses. Some horse knowledge would be great as you never know what mishaps animals are going to have.

Our garden

Minimal - The gardens are large with fruit and vegie gardens, lawn and cottage garden. It is well maintained with automatic watering in summer. In winter a lot of it is dormant so not much to do. There is always weeding to do in gardens if you want but not expected. The lawn doesn't need to be mowed in winter. There are also half a dozen indoor plants to water once a week.

We enjoy our rural lifestyle particularly the bush, horse riding and gardening. We are recently retired and enjoy travelling in our camper trailer or overseas.

We really enjoyed our time at Penny and Craig's place, so quite and peaceful, lots of wildlife to see. We done a few 'tourist' things while there. Lunch at one of the pub's was great. The horses Remie and Asta were great to look after, always looking for the next feed! Thanks for having us.
Had a lovely winter sit at Penny and Craig's house and property in Echuca. Enjoyed looking after Remie boy with his loveable personality, and of course spoilt him just a tad. Beautiful and quiet area lots of nature, kangaroos, ducks, kookaburras and other Birdlife. Comfortable wood fires to keep us warm. Penny and Craigs information booklet supplied with everything for daily care needs for Remie and running of house and property . Communication was prompt even when allowing for overseas ... Had the pleasure of sitting for this lovely couple again, also enjoyed getting my horse fix again by looking after Remi 🐴 with his usual routine layed out for me by Penny. Garden maintenance and keeping the house tidy was easy and no hassle at all for the benefit of staying in such a great property close to town. Thanks again Craig and Penny! 🙏🏽

I had a great time doing this house sit. Penny and Craig were great hosts, the animals were low maintenance and the house was big and really comfortable. There was also an endless display of wildlife and at night there was the silence you only get in a country location. I also got a chance to have a really good look at an area that previously I'd only passed through. So five stars all round folks.
We enjoyed the peace and quiet at Penny and Craig’s home. A lovely spot.
