Our home

We are Mere and Rob. Our home is a smallish three bedroom house, with a nice garden in a quiet neighborhood.
The house is upstairs, all on one level with fantastic views. I have included a photo taken from our home. The garage is the whole area at ground level under the house. The garage door is remote controlled and there is an internal entry to the house from the garage. We fit our two cars and camper trailer. You would be able to park your car in the garage. The garage door is remote controlled and there is an internal entry to the house from the garage. We fit our two cars and camper trailer. You would be able to park your car in the garage. The house is heated by both a heat pump and wood fire. We are a 13 minute walk to the beach (800m), and similar to the nearest shops and IGA. The main shopping centre is about a 40 minute walk (2.5 kms) or a 5 minute drive.

Ulverstone is on the northern coast of Tasmania, on the mouth of the river Leven. It is 21 kms to Devonport and 12kms to the lovely village of Penguin. Ulverstone has many local or nearby attractions, including Leven Canyon. We would be happy to share our local knowledge when we meet/speak.

Our pets

DogsDogs (2)
Our lovely dogs are Wally, a 13y.o. Jack Russell, who thinks he is a 6y.o., and Hunter, a 7 y.o. Cavalier/ Cocker Spaniel. Both dogs are friendly boys and easy to look after. They love a cuddle and a pat.
They are used to a 30 minute morning walk at the dog beach in Ulverstone, however, a walk of your choice would be ok.
It is fine for them to be left at home during the day, while you are exploring the area. If absolutely necessary an overnight absence could also be organised.
We feed them a dog roll twice a day and they have access to dry food.

This home is lived in by smokers - we overlooked the fact that smoking is permitted inside and found the smell overwhelming at times - this affected the enjoyment of our stay. The home has a lovely aspect with ocean glimpses and overlooks the town. There is plenty to see locally. Robert provided an orientation manual which was comprehensive, and Mere showed us around the house and gave useful advice. The home has a lovely aspect with ocean glimpses and overlooks the town. There is plenty to see locally. Robert provided an orientation manual which was comprehensive, and Mere showed us around the house and gave useful advice. Hunter and Wally are nice friendly dogs - Hunter can bark big time whenever a walk is anticipated, Both dogs love their off leash beach walks, but Hunter needs a professional groomer as his long fur catches twigs, seaweed etc. (which results in matted fur). The wood fire & air con kept us warm and our bedroom was comfy. We appreciated the use of the garage too.

I am most grateful to Mere and Rob for entrusting me to care for Wally and Hunter and their home. Ulverstone was a beautiful area to explore. The views from the house are pure magical, including bird-eye (or owl) views of the spectacular aurora australis. The Zigzag Garden was a real bonus, with its beautiful gardens, including pademelons as well. The two dogs are real characters - in the month I spent with them, their behaviour showed positive indications of improvement, though controlling the barking needs much more effort, in the mission to reveal the two very cute and sweet little dogs that they are. Rob and Mere were very generous, including picking me up from my prior sit, and dropping me off at the bus in Devonport as I headed to my next sit. Thank you both very much.
