Our home

Property sitters required for 2 acre property, 2km from main street of Berri in the Riverland.
House access will not be available so MUST have own living quarters (caravan or camper). Full (modern) ensuite bathroom with hot shower is available. Power, water, hard stand area and also a sheltered area with washing machine is also available. Lots of lawn and sheltered seating all around property. Some chores are required as trade-off so must be capable of general home and/or garden maintenance ... Some chores are required as trade-off so must be capable of general home and/or garden maintenance should something be required. (Nothing major).
Responsibilities: Keep an eye on property and garden and keep it looking tidy. Feed, free-range and keep chickens alive and healthy and their coop clean.
You will have plenty of eggs and probably some vegetables from the garden.
You wont be dissapointed!

favoriteWhat we love about our area

A 20 minute walk to town centre. And 10 minute walk to the Murray River. Also great walks and rides into Martins Bend Reserve just across the road. Berri is a great small town that has all the major shops that would normally be found in much larger towns. Woolies, Coles, Aldi, K Mart and Bunnings.

Our garden

Average - The garden pretty much looks after itself but pulling a few weeds here and there and keeping an eye on the irrigation would be a benefit. Some plants may need extra water if it's dry. As we have a lot of trees, there is often branches around the property to pick up and leaves to be blown from the sheltered areas.
But nothing too strenuous.

We are a retired couple that enjoy caravanning around this great Country. We take pride in our property. We keep it pretty tidy and expect our sitters to also look after the area.

Steve and Vi were a lovely, welcoming couple and did a walk around explaining the care for their chickens and garden, and provided clear written instructions. They were easily contactable for any questions we had. The ensuite they had on site for our use was modern and very clean. They have a beautiful garden around the main house and we enjoyed our time there using the covered seating area and pool. Our puppy loved the space even more than we did. It was well fenced for her and she ... This one is a gem! Great area with lots of birds and fresh air. Plenty of garden work for anyone keen and the chooks lovers will enjoy their company. Viola and Steve gave plenty of information to set me up with confidence, so I knew what was expected of me. Regular contact throughout the sit made for peace of mind on for all of us. Grab this one in 2026!
We house sat for Steve & Viola Rodley, from 6th April 2024 until the 9th September 2024. In that time, we looked after their chooks, vegie garden & security of the house and gardens. They rang us on occasions for a chat & an update. We communicated with them easily & found them to be a lovely, caring and honest couple. House sitting, for them, was relaxing & easy.
