Our home

A 78 year old timber cottage on poles with air-conditioning, fans and louvre windows is where the cats live.
Set upon 5 acres of rural land in the Whitsunday Hinterland, nestled between the beautiful Cathu Ranges and the Great Barrier Reef, with a boundary that is shared by a cattle station sits my patch of peace in paradise. Ideally you have your own comfortable accommodation and are happy to use the amenities
the house offers rather than reside in it. There are no stairs just one ramp in and out.

This sit would suit people who would love to "park up " for a month and explore the area on day trips and over nighters.

The hosue isn't really on offer as it needs updates and repairs. I live in it quite comfortably but it would breach the T&Cs to offer it to you at this time, next year when all the renovations are complete it will be totally part of the sit, but for now, caravanners are my preference.
Now if you are a handy people's and want some paid work while staying here there are a few projects that require measuring, wood, hammers, nails and paints. I have the basic tools and power tools available to use for that particular job. Ask me later if you are interested!
No working at heights.
Also the dates are kinda flexible as I can probably hustle a local to drop in a few days here and there, so don't feel it's too long, please reach out to me if you are keen to visit the area but not for the entire stay.

100% legitimate beach and property photos. 10 minutes drive to that exact beach. Fishing, Crabbing and occasional Crocodiling!

Oh, this place is special, the winters are brilliant especially of you have a bit of arthritis!
The land sits between the Conway Ranges and the Great Barrier Reef so you are drenched in magnificent scenery at every turn. IMHO
Boat ramp, beach and Tavern 10 minutes drive away.

The cats need food and water checks, the 2 senior cats are fairly independent and can be cuddly with strangers when they become more familiar.
The Tonkinese cat does require more engagement (they are basically dogs in feline bodies.) He will even play catch and return the ball. He was acquired as a kitten and is really into being around people. He talks and will keep you company. He is strictly indoors, no outside at all. The 2 senior cats are in a routine of out first thing before breakfast, they do their business then will wait at the door to come in for breakfast within about 30 to 60 minutes of going out.
They will stay in all day in their spots and at twilight we often go for a stroll around the garden together. It's very relaxing and they love it.
They can be left for up to 48,hours if adequate food is provided, they are all indoors and you are prepared for any extra cleaning they may create.
The chooks are set up with 10 days food and water so you can just collect eggs for yourself to eat, pick fruit and herbs from the cooks garden and breathe in the beauty of the area.

All designed with easy care, low maintenance.

Average - It's 5 acres with a seasonal creek in the middle.
The house side has a beautiful garden and the other side is an unused (for now) paddock.
There are sprinklers to move or turn on daily amongst potted and planted gardens.
The biggest job between laying in the hammocks and identifying bird calls is picking up the odd palm frond.
Fairy lights, hammocks and reading chairs and lounges are scattered throughout the garden making places to meditate, sip tea and really relax all year round.
There is a gas BBQ available and picnic furniture under the house which has ample walk space.
A 100 year old Paperbark tree is the hero of the garden and its from this I plan on opening the space for private gatherings after wet season next year. You can feel how special this land is when you are here.
Mangoes, Lychee, all the cirtus varieties, dragon fruit, lemon grass, passionfruit,pomegranate, avocado, banana and coconut trees fill the landscape along with shrubs, natives and ornamentals. It should be low maintenance for the sitters as I will have an arborist come and prune and a lawn mowing service as the ride ons are a bit clunky and keeping you safe is priority and the place has been papered and mulched as I write so there will be very few if any weeds to deal with. It truly will be am easy gig for anyone who wants to chill out in nature and explore the beautiful Mackay/Whitsunday area.
This sit is ideal for anyone who want to explore the region on day trips and occasional over nighters. The real work is the cats, moving the sprinklers and reconnecting yourself in nature.

Important info

On a caravan convoy and have others you'd like to share the space with? I am very open to discussion about it. However I can only host 1 primary caravan on the house side with power and all others would need to go into the paddock and be fully self contained to fulfil council requirements.
