Our home

Our home is a two storey house with a garage at street level, 6 steps down to the living space and another 18 steps down to bedrooms and garden. The living space is really colourful and eclectic and the garden is what I refer to as my beautiful mess. It’s lush and productive and a bit weedy.
Our home is not immaculate but will be clean and tidy. We are about 30 seconds walk to the local cafes and general store, and 8 minutes walk to the beach.

Our home is definitely no smoking and we don’t use any toxic chemicals or products in our home. We don’t have heaters but we do have a lovely warm wood fire.

Red is 6 year old Red Cattle Cross, he is a lovely cuddly dog who will keep you company on the couch. He loves a daily walk on the beach or bay and is quite strong so you’ll need a firm hand if the postman rides by 😉. We feed Red each morning and night with dog biscuits and some fresh mince and you will need to top and clean his water bowl regularly.

Our 4 chookies sleep at night in their chicken tractor keeping them safe from local foxes, during the day you can let them out into a larger enclosure and a couple of hours free ranging in the afternoon, at dusk they will make their way back to the chicken tractor and you will need to close the door for them each evening. We give them our kitchen scraps and they have water and food in both the tractor and the enclosure that you will need to keep clean and topped up. They will lay 2-3 eggs per day that you are welcome to enjoy.

Red and the chooks do NOT get on, so when moving the chickens between enclosures make sure Red is locked inside the house, and also while the chookies are free ranging.

Our garden

Minimal - We have a large permaculture garden which you are welcome to pick salads and herbs from. If it rains regularly the garden doesn’t really need watering. If it’s getting dry we would appreciate a little watering for the pots especially and anything that looks a bit thirsty.

We are a family of 4 with 1 dog & 4 chickens who enjoy the outdoors which is great because of the location we live in. We have an edible garden which is low maintenance.

Such a beautiful time at Killcare, caring for this beautiful house. AMAZING garden full..roquette, cardamom, warragul, garlic chives, tomatoes, thyme, pumpkin, chokos...you name it. Killcare is close to the super-pretty Putty Beach (strangely, there is no putty there...I checked), Check out the Killcare markets at the Hardy's Bay club 3pm Thursdays for great food...and have a beer while you're there too. The doggie's name is Red, a super relaxed red cattle dog that will show around the ... MoreSuch a beautiful time at Killcare, caring for this beautiful house. Killcare and the surrounding area is such a dream. Gorgeous coastline everywhere you look and no shortage of bush walks or wildlife being surrounded by Bouddi Nat'l Park.
