Our home

About our house.
We are located in the first estate of Venus Bay, 5 minute walk to the shops/cafes and 10 minute walk to the beach.
Our house is a 3 bedroom elevated house on top of a hill with steps to the front and back doors.
As we are on a hill there is not much level ground so will be unsuitable for a large motor home. However a small van or caravan may be able to be parked on the gravel carpark area up the driveway.
Kids are welcome to stay. We have a 7yr old daughter so there is a ... Read more

As we are on a hill there is not much level ground so will be unsuitable for a large motor home. However a small van or caravan may be able to be parked on the gravel carpark area up the driveway.
Kids are welcome to stay. We have a 7yr old daughter so there is a trampoline, swing and cubby house in the back yard along with many other toys and books to play with.
The open plan kitchen and living area has almost 360degree views of the surrounding area. There is a large semi enclosed deck at the back too.
2 of the bedrooms and lounge have split systems (heating & air-con) and there are ceiling fans in every room.
The house is supplied with tank water which is safe to drink. We also have solar panels and a battery system - these just take care of themselves and don't really require any action from you.
Please help yourself to any of the produce in the greenhouse. There are also a variety of Australian bush foods for you to use as you wish.
Please message for more information if you are interested in staying at our beautiful beach home for a summer holiday.

Cheers Amanda

favoriteWhat we love about our area

Laid back coastal town with a short walk to the shops and skatepark/playground. Abundant local wildlife, wombats, roos, echidnas and koalas. We do also see the odd snake around the yards too.

Our pets

DogsDogs (1)
ReptilesReptiles (3)
We require care of our large 8 year old Red Heeler "Rusty". Rusty is friendly and great with people but does not get along with other dogs or other pets unfortunately. He will require feeding and medicating twice per day as he does have some anxiety. Ideally he will be walked every couple of days but this does require someone strong as he is approximately 36kg and can not be let off his lead. He is an affectionate dog who will follow you around the house waiting for any scraps that fall to the floor and will most likely cuddle up with you on the couch.

We also have 2 bearded dragons in seperate enclosures who only need feeding every few days. They will need fresh water and poo removed from their enclosures too. They are both able to be handled although the boy does get a bit excited at feeding time and may mistake your finger for food. When feeding or handling them Rusty must be outside.
Lastly we have our snake Marla, a Childrens Python. She doesn't necessarily need to be fed during your stay if that's not your thing but is happy to have one defrosted rat if you wanted to feed her

medicationMedication/treatment required

Rusty has two tablets with his breakfast and one tablet with his dinner. We will provide instructions. It is easy to give him his tablets, just stuff them into one of his meaty bites and he'll gobble it down.

Our garden

local_floristGarden or plant care

Minimal - We have a green house in which the plants will require watering if there's some warm weather during your stay. Other pots on the balconies and vegetable garden next to green house may need watering if there's no rain
Front and back yard predominantly planted out with local native species which generally takes care of itself. Front lawn currently being converted into native lawn/meadow which is looking a bit messy but no work required

Review

From the outset, Chris and Amanda were warm and easy to communicate with. Their beautiful home, set amongst native gardens, is close to the beach and amenities. Their fur and scale babies were fun and easy to care for. They made us feel welcome and provided clear instructions, making care for their home, garden and pets a very simple and enjoyable task. Their dog, Rusty is a real character, and we will miss him. Thank you for having us, we enjoyed our stay.
