Our home

I am looking for a house sitter to care for an outdoor fish pond and indoor aquarium, and chickens. Mackay is in the southern most region of Central Qld and is known for its many beaches. I am located 9 houses down from Iluka Beach (better known as Town Beach) and only a few blocks from the centre of town with easy access to a pedestrian/bike trail that surrounds the city centre. Read moreI am looking for a house sitter to care for an outdoor fish pond and indoor aquarium, and chickens. Mackay is in the southern most region of Central Qld and is known for its many beaches. I am located 9 houses down from Iluka Beach (better known as Town Beach) and only a few blocks from the centre of town with easy access to a pedestrian/bike trail that surrounds the city centre. The Whitsunday region is only 2 hours away and day trips can easily be organised. Mackay usually experiences cool sea breezes especially when compared to places north and south of here. The house is quite large and can fit a few extra people (if you were inviting visitors). It is very comfortable and air conditioned throughout for those few days when the breezes drop. Non-smoker preferred. Swim spa is kept at 30 oC (minimal maintenance needed if used).

favoriteWhat we love about our area

I love the location here as it is a short distance to a beach and also to the city centre and a major shopping centre. There are also lots of great bike paths that are a short distance from the house.

I have 3 chickens who need feeding and watering daily. You will also need to collect the eggs; usually 3 a day.
There are 2 lots of fish. One lot is in a fountain in the back and the other lot is in an aquarium in the house

Average - Mowing perhaps once a week and some weeding. Also palm fronds need to be collected and put in the bin or on the second driveway out the front

I am retired and am active in the community. I play croquet and pickleball and volunteer as a learner driver for the PCYC Braking the Cycle program. I also attend the gym and have a piano and ukuleles

Very happy with the comprehensive housesitter manual provided by Anne. An easy housesit caring for Bubba the dog who walks well on leash, calmly accepts his medication, and is happy to just be with his current person. A fresh egg each day from resident chooks a bonus. Thank you!
Thank you Joe & Anne. It was great to meet you and care for your animals. This was a really enjoyable sit. Detailed information supplied. The house is so cool & comfortable. Low maintenance gardens & fish. So close to the beach & dog park. The chooks are low maintenance and friendly. They love a chat. Bubba is such a sweet old boy and loves his pats, cuddles, rests, walks & play time. I'll miss his little face. I'd highly recommend this house sit to anyone interested.
