Our home

4 bedroom house. Two kids rooms have double loft beds. Portacot is available if needed. 4th Bedroom is set up as a spare bedroom with a queen size bed for house sitters to use.
The animals are mostly pretty easy. Hunter (dog) is quite content doing his own thing outside but if we are home we let him inside in the aircon. He does need to be inside from dusk to dawn (he is crate trained and will tap on the crate if he needs to go to the toilet) we have cane toads so being inside at night is ... Read more

He does need to be inside from dusk to dawn (he is crate trained and will tap on the crate if he needs to go to the toilet) we have cane toads so being inside at night is super important. If we go out for dinner, we will often put him inside before we go and let him out to go to the toilet while supervised at night.
Cat - Bailey is inside only. He occasionally bites for unknown reasons but is mostly a friendly sook that likes plenty of snuggles.

Our pets

DogsDogs (1)
CatsCats (1)
We have a large Wolfhound x Bull Arab and an orange domestic cat.

The dog, Hunter is a gentle giant. He spends a lot of time sleeping but definitely enjoys going for a walk or playing in the backyard. He does have some lead aggression so best not to walk him if you are confident in handling that, play in the back yard is more than enough for him. Hunter is indoor and outdoor, he does need to be inside before dark due to an abundance of cane toads in our area. He is crate trained and sleeps in his crate at night.

Bailey, the cat is the man of the house. He demands attention on his own schedule but can be a grump. He does bite, we aren't too sure why but usually it seems to be an over stimulation occurrence. Bailey is an indoor only cat, so some poop scooping is required and a litter pad changed weekly (very easy system to use) Bailey does vomit on occasion, vets have given special food to help with this but it does still occur.

Our garden

local_floristGarden or plant care

Average - Depending on the weather, the lawn may need mowing, we own a battery lawn mower and whipper snipper.

It was so lovely to look after Hunter and Bailey again! Both are so low maintenance and easy to look after and communication with Mel was just as excellent as before. Hopefully we’ll get to see them again soon.

Looking after Hunter and Bailey for Melanie and Jack was an absolute dream. Both Hunter and Bailey are very chilled and easygoing—unless they decide it’s time for scratches and cuddles, which we were more than happy to provide. Hunter’s definitely the cheekier one—always trying his luck with the house rules and forgetting he’s a big dog, not a tiny lap pup. Melanie and Jack’s home is a lovely place to stay, with a Coles and several other shops close by. It’s also just around the corner from Ormeau station, where trains run every half hour, making it super easy to get around. Melanie was very quick to reply to messages when we had any questions. We’re already looking forward to house-sitting for Melanie and Jack again soon!
