About me:
Hi, I’ve been a teacher and community educator for over 25 years. I enjoy a clean, healthy, gentle lifestyle, and am vegetarian. (Don’t worry, I have friends who are meat-eaters too – I cope ;) I’m super caring, responsible, and respectful of people and things. I love engaging with nature, walking, swimming, reading, and a good cup of tea! I initiated and coordinate my local Bushcarer group 2 years ago in Albany WA, and love participating in citizen science projects such as Murdoch University’s Turtle Tracking, surveys for Western Ringtail Possums, and National Museum’s Frog ID. As a registered practising teacher, I hold a current National Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check. (This registration can be checked publicly on the TRBWA database.)

My experience:
I’ve always had pets around and loved it! Cats, dogs, turtles, and treasured wildlife around my home. I love critters of all species, but get great joy from the cuddles and antics of cats and dogs. I have done a lot of pet and housesitting for friends, family and colleagues over the years, including at over 14 homes during my studies for my teaching degree! While we had our gentle old Jacko, we often cared for other’s pets with him while they were away. I’ve also cared for fish, birds (including chooks), and rabbits. However, I am new to the online world of house-sits. I can supply references on request.

Why I want to house-sit:
I’ve often travelled and simply missed having animals around, and realised the best of both worlds must be pet and house-sitting! I’m ready to have a few cheerful breaks before we take on a new pet, since I’ve just paid off my mortgage (!), partner Ben is busy renovating, and our own beautiful, beloved, 16yo border collie x, Jackson, passed away. So I’m keeping my work-life flexible for a while, mostly undertaking short contracts and casual teaching.
I am up for some pleasant new experiences and merry adventures, and I’d love to share the joy by having some little creatures beside me as I go, perhaps even with lots of cuddles too! I deeply empathise with, and appreciate the privilege of caring for another’s treasured family members - of all species. I understand the anxiety of entrusting your beloved companions and home, including perhaps your cherished garden as well, to someone you don’t yet know – I’ve been there too. I will always do my utmost to care lovingly for, and be respectful of, your pets, plants and home.

I had absolutely no issue leaving Jude to care for my pups and my home. As soon as I met her I knew we were on the same wavelength and everything would be perfect. Jude was an absolute delight to meet and a wonderful sitter for our pets. Her clear love of animals shone through and we came home to a relaxed and happy household. Jude was also very clean and tidy, even washing the bed linens.
