There is nothing better than visiting a new place and feeling like a local. We enjoy living in a real home. Having pets to care for is grounding and gives a sense of satisfaction. We have had so many wonderful experiences getting to know the local communities and experiencing another way of being

We are a retired couple, Mark is Aussie and Chris Canadian. Our two adult children live in Australia, currently one currently in Canberra and the other in Karatha, WA.

We live in Vancouver, Canada. Having retired a few years ago, we've been travellling and house sitting for most of it. We live in Vancouver, Canada. Having retired a few years ago, we've been travellling and house sitting for most of it. Our experience started here, in Austrralia in 2024 and continued for another 18 mos in the UK and North America. We plan on spending 4-6 months in Australia each year (around early December up until late May) moving forward.

We both grew up with lots of pets, and had several while our kids were growing at home as well. We are known in our neighbourhood as favourite uncle and aunt to friends' pets and whenever we are home, find ourselves in the care of many for short and longer terms, as needed.

We became certified Service Dog trainers in 2019 and for 3 years attended weekly classes and successfully raised and trained a lab/retriever cross, who was a breeder for 2 years and is now working within a high school with special needs students. (we are very proud!)

Over the past few years we have house/ pet sat for many people, in various types of homes and love the adventure of experiencing new neighbourhoods as a local. References are available.

We have also had friends house sit our home and pets over the years.
Mark is handy and Chris is happy in the garden. We are both avid outdoors people and spend most of our free time camping, hiking, biking and kayaking.

Pet care

We have looked after over 20 homes with pets over the past few years. Cats -- single and pairs, senior cats who require medication, shy cats who take a while to develop trust, indoor and outdoor cats. Dogs - we've had up to three in a household, in busy urban settings and in the country. Senior dogs who need tender care and meds, and younger pups who need consistency and reassurance. And of course households with both dogs and cats, and chickens and fish. We are animal lovers who understand engagement with the animals is key.

We are spending 4 months (December '26 through to April '27) on a slow road trip across the southern half of Australia. When not pet / house sitting, we will visit with friends and family along the way.

Chris & Mark took wonderful care of our dogs and house, they are very easy to communicate with and kept us updated prior to the sit and while we were away. It’s so nice to come home to a clean house and happy dogs, so we have no hesitation in recommending them as a reliable and trustworthy couple.
Chris and Mark came to us as house sitters and left as friends. They are a gorgeous couple who took so much care for our home and pets. We came home to the house being cleaner and tidier from when we left! We would have them back in a heartbeat and we cannot recommend them highly enough.
Chris and Mark were great house sitters and looked after our house and pups very well. Can recommend them for house and pet sitting.
Chris and Mark looked after our fur babies (2 cats) over the festive period. They met with us both virtually and in person before the sit and kept in touch throughout our trip - great communication which was very reassuring. We returned to a super clean house after our time away, and the cats had been fed and well cared for. Chris and Mark were also able to administer daily medication for one of our cats which is no easy feat! We feel extremely fortunate to have met Chris and Mark - ...
