About Us

We are Steve and Shan, an experienced, reliable couple who have been house sitting full-time for more than seven years. We are Steve and Shan, an experienced, reliable couple who have been house sitting full-time for more than seven years. During that time, we have cared for a wide variety of homes, pets and properties, building long-term relationships with homeowners who value trust, communication and peace of mind.

Steve has worked in the security industry for more than 20 years and has held a security licence throughout that time. His experience includes dog handling, event security, VIP protection, and most recently Security and Mine Rescue roles within the Queensland mining industry. Shan spent most of her career working in Human Resources for both the NSW Government and the UK Government, developing strong organisational, communication and people skills.

While we enjoy occasionally getting out to explore local areas, we spend the majority of our time at home. This means your property benefits from a regular presence, added security, and plenty of companionship and attention for your pets while you are away.

Having both owned our own homes, we understand the trust involved in handing over the care of your property. We treat every home with the same respect and care we would expect for our own, taking pride in maintaining it to a high standard and leaving it clean, tidy and well cared for upon your return.

Our Experience

Over the past seven years we have completed a diverse range of house-sitting assignments, caring for homes, pets, gardens, pools and acreage properties. We are happy to provide references, endorsements and contact details from previous homeowners.

We are currently based in Brisbane and are available for assignments throughout Queensland and beyond.

We also own a fully self-contained caravan and are happy to stay in it where this better suits a homeowner’s requirements.

In addition to house sitting, we have experience in Airbnb property management, including guest bookings, arrivals, check-ins, cleaning coordination, property turnovers and general caretaking responsibilities.

We understand that every pet has its own personality, routine and needs, so we carefully follow homeowners’ instructions and keep pets in their normal routines while their owners are away.

Whether it’s daily walks, feeding schedules, administering simple medications, caring for livestock, providing companionship or plenty of cuddles and attention, we treat every animal as if it were our own. We genuinely enjoy spending time with animals and ensuring they feel safe, happy and loved. Many homeowners tell us their pets are relaxed and content when they return.

Our responsibilities have included feeding and checking livestock, caring for chickens and other poultry, monitoring water supplies, maintaining routines, and keeping an eye on the overall property while owners were away.

We are practical, active and reliable, with a strong work ethic and plenty of common sense. We follow instructions carefully, communicate promptly if any issues arise, and are always willing to learn the specific requirements of each property to ensure animals and facilities are well cared for.

Shan & Steve recently sat our house while we went on a 5 week holiday. During this time cyclone Alfred hit and we were so glad we had such a caring and responsible couple in our house at this time. They did a great job in preparing our house for the cyclone and took great care of the place during and after the cyclone. We came home to a clean and tidy house and the lawn and gardens were in great shape. Thanks Shan & Steve for a great job and for giving us peace of mind to enjoy our trip away ... Stephen and Shan did a great job looking after Maggie and keeping the house in order whilst we were away.
Wonderful house sitters. Stephen and Shan and took great care of the animals, are excellent communicators and took care of the house, pool and gardens very well. Nothing was too much trouble and Nellie and Felix were super happy. Stephen has a particular affinity to connect with animals! We look forward to welcoming them back in the future and highly recommend them as house sitters to others. Peace of mind when you travel.

Steve and Shan are brilliant house sitters from the first meeting to the end if their stay eveything went perfectly. Our dogs were happy and well and the house was left in a very clean and tidy state. We hope we can get them back next time we go away.
Stephen and Shan were excellent pet and house sitters. I arrived home to a clean house and happy dog. Bonus was the meat in the freezer that they had won in a raffle! I would highly recommend them.

My female dog who does not like men just loved Steve. He is unbelievable with animals . House was well looked after by very efficient sitters. Would recommend them any time as house and animal sitters .
All my concerns were put to rest once I met Steve and Shan. They bonded extremely well with my pets and I cane hine to find everything as I left it. I was so happy that I have already checked their availability for another sit next year. If you're thinking of trying house sitting I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Shan and Steve.
we hope that Stephen and Shan will be available when we need to be away from our menagerie for some time again! we felt completely confident leaving them in their care, and were delighted to find everything in good shape when we got back, with happy animals and a very clean house!
As this was our first time using house sitters we couldn't of selected a more fantastic couple to look after our house and dog (Cassie). We are very very happy with Shan & Steve, we greatly appreciated them moving the lawn which we did not request (great surprise). We arrived home to happy, very healthy and Spoilt dog. We look forward to having Shan & Steve house sit for us again when we take our next adventure.

Steve and Shan were extremely professional and organized. They made us feel at ease given it was our first experience with Aussie House Sitters. We appreciated their communication, confirming the house sit at different intervals prior to the engagement. Our house was maintained to our standard and our Buddy was well looked after. Steve and Shan went above and beyond and I would not hesitate to request their services again in the future.

Absolutely fantastic sitters, keen for handover and to meet our dogs, they gained great rapport with my fur babies instantly. when they were worried about one of my dogs they took him to the vet and kept in contact with myself and my contact people throughout. House was left in immaculate condition, trustworthy house sitters, would definitely have again and would highly recommend , thanks guys
