Peter & Amy

Amy and I are available for house-sitting positions in the Greater Melbourne area during the year of 2024. We will take care of your home, keep your garden trim & tidy & look after any pets you may have- canine, feline or avian. We have had pets of our own and had an extensive organic and bush garden in Tasmania.

I am a retired English (ESL/EFL) teacher and have lived a large portion of my life, teaching and travelling overseas. In the past, I have also worked around Australia, particularly Tasmania, designing and constructing walking tracks in national parks. I love tending gardens, both native and ornamental, as well as suburban vegetable patches. In the past, I have grown bumper crops in my organic vegetable gardens. I am a keen outdoor enthusiast, especially cycle touring and bushwalking.

Amy and I met in Myanmar in 2012 and we have been living together, back in Australia since 2014. Amy is currently in her third year of a Bachelor of Education degree and works part-time as a Burmese/English interpreter, as well as a teacher’s aide in primary schools. She shares my love of the outdoors and is constantly out in the garden in our rental and house-sitting homes. We are both fastidious about cleanliness and always keep a tidy home. As I am writing and Amy is studying online, we will spend a great part of our day at home, and will rarely go out at night whilst in Melbourne.

Between 2015-17 we had a variety of house-sitting positions in Tasmania, five in total, three privately, two with a house-sitting company. From 2022-2023 we had a total of eight different housesits around Melbourne, and two houseowners (Hawthorn/Hawthorn East) asked us to return for further sits. You can find the references in the attachments below. All the positions required care for houses, gardens and pets. The pets varied from a labradoodle, two beagles, a greyhound, a very naughty bearded collie called Xana, a kelpie, a blue-heeler, a delightful array of cats and the odd bird in a cage. We loved and cared for them as if they were our own. You can be rest assured that your pets will get the best treatment and most tender loving care with Amy and I looking after your home. We both love pets, both feline and canine and are avid walkers, so your cherished dogs will get a decent walking routine while we care for your home.
We both have current police certificates as well as Working with Vulnerable People checks.

We don’t really mind which part of the Melbourne area we reside in while house-sitting, as long as it is within the greater metropolitan region. Our preference is for longer house-sits and anything of three weeks or more duration would suit us more, as we get attached to pets and get accustomed to the area. However, we are also available to do shorter stints if they fit in with other confirmed housesits.
