Fran

Hello!

My name is Fran, my partner and I are heading to the UK in July 2024 for our wedding and we are looking for someone to look after our fuzzy family members while we’re away.

Our home is a 100-year old worker’s cottage set on 8 acres of partially cleared land. We have a dog called Lila, two indoor cats called Stanley and Oliver, and a free-range duck called Quack.

Lila is a mystery dog – our best guess is a bullmastiff cross (possibly with a ridgeback). She will be nearly 2 years old when we go away. She is quite big so she’s strong and she loves to run at full speed given the chance, but she is a very sweet-natured girl. She loves going for walks around the property and she is crazy about sticks!

The cats are very chilled out indoor boys, both grey tabbies who like people. Stanley is the older and the longer haired of the two (he will be 6 years old), and Ollie will be 3. Visitors have said they behave more like dogs than cats! They aren’t escape artists (to our knowledge) and although they often sit by the door they don’t try to dart through if you open it.

Stanley’s life was a mystery before I adopted him at about a year old, he isn’t a lap cat but he loves being brushed, and he’s very chatty – he will definitely let you know if he “needs” biscuits! Ollie is a little dream – he’s super affectionate and even likes tummy rubs. He can be quite timid at first but he’s a darling once he feels comfortable.

We also have a free-range duck on the property called Quack – she isn’t completely tame but she will come up most days looking for a feed – we keep a bag of grain on hand for her, and her wild duck friends who she sometimes brings around for dinner!

As we’ll be away in the winter we don’t anticipate there being much need for mowing on the property, but if it’s dry we would massively appreciate it if the garden near the house could have the occasional water. We are currently setting up irrigation systems for our fruit trees so that should be fairly straight-forward.

Thank you for reading – I hope we’ve given you a good idea of our place and our pets, but please get in touch if you have any questions.

We look forward to hearing from you if you’re interested!
