I have worked for 2 years on a permaculture garden farm on acreage, as a Horticulturalist and property hand. I have been responsible for feeding horses and mucking out their stables, stacking hay and keeping the horse yard clean and tidy. I have also been in charge of feeding sheep, chickens, guinea fowl, and ducks, as well as looking after and moving tethered goats around the property. I am experienced in lawn-mowing, brush-cutting, whipper snipping, and general garden maintenance and have extensive experience tree planting & mulching as well as general plant care. Having said all that, my preference would be for 'light duties' when it comes to property maintenance activities during a house-sit. stay. I've worked in vegie gardens, orchards, and olive groves, as well as in hothouses, shade houses, and open paddocks. I have good basic handy-person skills, and am used to using basic power tools and hand tools for a wide variety of small-scale projects. I have a fair bit of good old common sense, and am used to working outdoors in all Tasmanian weather, and am practical and competant and happy to get my hands dirty.
59, Self-employed Creative
Hello, thanks for reading my Profile. I’m Leah, a 59-year-old female creative who is setting up an online business, and I work from home. I have just finished a rental lease for a small place in Wynyard, Tasmania, which I have been renting for the past 12 months. I am keen to explore more of Tassie and spend time living in different places. I have just started my house-sitting journey and also have a great rental background, both here in Tasmania (last 5 years) and on the mainland (10 years rental history). House-sitting enables me to experience living in different locations Australia-wide, while enabling homeowners to leave their homes in the hands of a reliable and trustworthy house-sitter. I have my own transport which is a converted Ford Transit van that is sometimes my ‘home away from home’, as I love exploring different regions of Tassie, when time permits.
I’m an outdoor nature enthusiast, creative, and have a horticultural background, as well as 2 years experience working on a farm and looking after horses, sheep, goats, chickens, dogs, cats, and ducks. I am great at looking after vegie gardens, ornamental gardens, and property, and am extremely neat & tidy and very house-proud. I would love to have the opportunity to help out by looking after your home while you are away.
Warm regards,
Leah Syme.
