Far North

LOOKING FOR A house sit over the long weekend in October. South Australian school holidays.
We are looking for house-sitters from approx 3-10-24 until 12/13-10 -24 this maybe extended. We prefer couple with their own van.
Our property is approximately 6 kilometres from the regional centre of Port Pirie, which is in the Mid North of the South Australia at the start of the Flinders Ranges.

From the front door you have an unobstructed view of the Southern Flinders Ranges.

From our house you have easy access to the Flinders Ranges, Clare Valley, Yorke Peninsula and the Spencer Gulf Region, a multitude of tourist attractions, and for the keen fisherman a quick 10 minute drive to Port Davis where you can find a boat ramp and jetty.

Our property is 40 acres on flat land, that has 9 pet sheep, 17 chooks and one very friendly goat and a two year old Tenterfield terrier.
The property consists of a farmhouse that has been renovated plus a number of sheds that are scattered around the property. The house yard and immediate yard area are well maintained with a large grass area just outside the house yard, which is suitable for a caravan or motor home to park on. Bathroom facilities, outdoor kitchen and lounge area are located close to where your van would be located.

We also have a large stone area in front of the sheds if you want to park your caravan or motor home on a stoned area. Power is readily available in both locations.

We have an enclosed outdoor pergola area that has an outdoor kitchen, BBQ, large screen television and heating for the cold months and a misting system for cooling in summer. The outdoor area is fully enclosed with a lounge area, dining and kitchen facilities. As part of the outdoor area we also have a bathroom which incorporates a shower and toilet.

There is easy access to the indoor laundry ( with in the house)

The property is easy to manage, for those who enjoy keeping busy we have a ride on lawn mower and would appreciate it if you could maintain the outside area. ( may not be required at this time) depending on exact dates

What an enjoyable relaxing housesit. Leanne & Colin are very warm and welcoming to their lovely home with an amazing external kitchen / lounge / bathroom area available for our use. The property is close to Port Pirie and the southern Flinders Ranges meaning lots of opportunities for exploring. The animals, (a goat, sheep, chooks, cats and a very cute puppy) were very easy to mind. The property is well fenced with ample water access and feed stations set up close to the various enclosures. ANNETTE (Sep 2022 - 1 week 2 days)
Leanne and Colin were warm and welcoming. Leanne showed us all the feeding stations and clearly explained the feeding routines. This was also provided to us in a booklet. We stayed in our motorhome but had full use of an enclosed outdoor entertainment area which was made comfortable with lounge chairs, table. Tv. Bbq, microwave, oven and bathroom. We also had use of the laundry. We found the job easy. Chase the dog was such a happy chap and a pleasure to look after. Buster and Duchess ... MORE

LINDA & ANDREW (Apr 2024 - 1 week 2 nights)
Leanne was great, easy to deal with and very informative prior to the housesit. We stayed in our camper but had access to full facilities including a lounge, laundry etc. Looking after the animals was easy, no stress, and Daisy the goat and the boss of the sheep Buster, were entertaining and always there to greet us. Recommended as a housesit.

CHRISTINE (Dec 2023 - 2 weeks 3 nights)
Leanne was wonderfully welcoming. We met her cute little dog Chase but he was going away with her so we didn’t spend much time with him. The views from the property are lovely & yet you are only 10 minutes into town. The sheep and goat were no bother at all & if only we could count the chickens wouldn’t have been an issue either! The cats mainly kept to themselves avoiding our dogs who were happy to let them be. Highly recommend this sit situation.

JANE (Oct 2023 - 1 week 2 nights)
We had a very enjoyable and relaxing housesit, and both Leanne & Colin are very lovely and welcoming hosts. They made available to us a beautiful fully enclosed kitchen, lounge/dining area and outdoor BBQ, along with bathroom and laundry facilities. Port Pirie is a short drive from the property, providing all amenities. Caring for the animals was easy with all food provided in an abundance, along with very detailed written instructions. Communications were great, and we feel we have come away ... MORE
