75, Retired Handy at many things
67, Retired Secondary Teacher
We are a retired couple, Warwick has retired from doing lots of different jobs and is a great handyman. Chris is retired from being a Home Economics and Textiles teacher. Warwick has always been a handyman around the house and vehicles and loves the challenge of repairing/rebuilding things, Chris loves a potter in the garden - one of our regrets when packing everything into a huge storage shed is all her plants collected over 40 years plus were sold or given away. We started our house sitting more than 8 years ago travelling with our daughter who has a disability and her companion dog, Naomi is now in fulltime supported care with our dog keeping her company in Shepparton which is close to her 5 brothers.
We have travelled to the Northern Territory in July a number of times in the last 9 years and would like to do that again next year after missing out over the pandemic years.
We travel in a Mercedes Sprinter that I have converted from a 15 seater bus into a campervan and is set up so that we could sleep in it for short house sits.
We have completed housesits involving 2 terriers - 2 Huskies - 3 Labs - 3 dogs (sausage dogs) - 2 horses and 2 cats - 2 dogs and 4 hens and rooster, 14 goats and 4 horses recently. We have done a 3 week stint with about 50 cattle, 6 horses and 2 dog along with a cat, learnt how use a tractor to feed the round bales to the cattle. Twice we have cared for horses with special needs.
During all the Covid lockdowns in Vic and NSW we based ourselves in Swan Bay near Karuah and Newcastle as volunteers at a Drug and Alcohol Rehab for men running the kitchen and associated service and care and moved on from there April 2022. We finished a 15 month job June 1st 2023 on a property near Tamworth as caretakers for a homestead, 2 cottages and an AirBNB plus gardening at 2 other properties as well.
Each year we have an annual catering job for a large harvest crew north of Moree, NSW and over the summer months could do short term house sits along the Qld - NSW coast.
But we are adaptable and will consider any house/pet sits, not just dogs and cats but feel comfortable around horses and cattle anywhere in Australia. Tassie is a problem in the peak times because of the cost of getting our van across.
Phone references are possible as a lot of our housesits have been from word of mouth and previous sits that we return to.
