We are a happy couple who enjoy travelling OZ looking at our amazing countryside. We are fit and Jack enjoys a 30-minute early morning walk, especially with a dog, daily and together we ride our bikes wherever possible for 30 to 60 minutes every second day. We enjoy maintaining the routine for pets while their owners have a holiday. We love giving animals their daily exercises. We like to arrive at least a day or two before the owners leave to allow a smooth transition for the pets. We normally depart at least a day after the homeowners return so that we can discuss any problems, as well as ease the workload of coming home. We have looked after lots of different animals during the last five years doing rural house sits. Jack was a tradesman who started work life as a fitter & turner, small engine & pumps fitter and an electrical instrument fitter on light aircraft. Jack worked as a computer trainer and used Microsoft Access to develop boutique database systems for small & large businesses in his later work life. Joy has a special affinity for dogs as she whelped and raised greyhounds for the last 10 years of her working life. We are happy to do minor maintenance where and when required, as well as basic yard work. We have been on the road travelling in our own self-contained, 22 ft Aura caravan, doing the grey nomad thing for the last 14 years. The last 6 years we have interwoven house sitting with our travelling and meet some wonderful people and made lots of friends. We are happy to sleep in the house/home, particularly with older animals or "fur-babies". We normally cook in the caravan using our own cooking gear. Access to a toilet, shower & laundry are appreciated. We make our own environmentally friendly laundry detergent and goats milk soap. We have had many return-visit house sits, which do not appear on the website and are happy to supply phone numbers, privately, for references if required. We can obtain Australian Federal Police Certificates for those who are interested. We are non-smokers and very light social drinkers. We like to give a weekly report to the homeowner, usually be email/SMS/Messenger. Updated April 2023.

Jack and Joy were great housesitters. They really cared about our spoilt cat Hugo; all his needs were met and they really enjoyed his personality. Nothing was too much for Jack and Joy. They kept in touch about Hugo's antics during our holiday which was great.
Our plants were healthy and had grown so much, Joy admitted she didn't have a green thumb but I disagree! The house was lovely and clean and everything was washed and shining. Thanks to Jack and Joy we had an awesome holiday.

Jack and Joy were a 5 star team who looked after Willow our dog and my abundant feathered friends. They arrived 2 days before we left for our 6 week holiday to learn the routine. Joy cooked a lovely meal the day before we left as I was busy cleaning out my 3 aviaries and bird cages. They sent regular updates and photos of Willow and newly hatched baby birds which was delightful! Upon our return Joy welcomed us with another delicious meal. Jack and Joy looked after our home over a 4 week period in February 2022. Our lawn and gardens were mowed and watered and some plants were even pruned. The yard looked fantastic and our house was neat and tidy when we arrived home. They also took great care of 4 or our dogs. Our 12 year old dog even tried to stowaway in their caravan. We highly recommend Jack and Joy for your house sitting requirements and would love to have them look after our home and dogs again.

There are 2 very different perceptions of what was done and achieved during this house sit. We are satisfied with the quality of what we did.
Jack and Joy have just finished a house sit for us taking care of our home and our two doggy furkids. They took wonderful care of them and our dogs were very happy and settled with them. Jack and Joy stayed for a couple days before we left so we could show them what needed to be done and ensure our dogs were ok with them. Jack and Joy sent us regular updates and photos which was welcomed. They took good care of our home and the day to day chores we asked them to do for us. We would happily ... It is with no hesitation that my wife, Marion and I recommend Jack and Joy as house sitters.
Jack and Joy house sat our 5 acre property for the period 9 Nov to 4 Dec 2019 while we went overseas. They were traveling through our area in their caravan and generously offered their time to stay and look after our house and pets. They were happy to stay in their caravan while using a granny flat we were able to offer.

I explained to them that I had a special lock on one of my front gates for access for the meter reader, they decided that this didn't suit them so they swapped the locks, the reader couldn't get in to read my electricity. They moved my car in my carport so as to place their car where mine was, never returning things to their previous ... Even though they had a van with all facilities I allowed them to use a fully contained unit so they didn't have to use their bathroom & toilet, for this generosity my benchtops & window sill was damaged I believe by some cleaning product that was used on them.
I can laugh about this now but at the time I was not impressed, I arrived home in the evening & the following morning wanted to go to the supermarket to get something for breakfast to discover that they had locked me in my own property as they had gone off to the bore baths.
After reading Jacks remarks about my comments all I can say is at no time were they asked to keep the yard locked at all times only when they went out & at night, as for the locks just ordinary locks on a small chain. Due to not requiring ads for further sitters this year I only noticed that I hadn't written a review when I came to place an ad for next year.
I travel at least 3 times a year & have 1 couple who travel from the Sunshine Coast at least once a year to sit for me & have just received a request from another previous sitter to cover my current advertised sit. Please read the comments from others from this site who have sat for me, I use a number of different sites.

Our main goal in a house sit is to look after the pet which we believe we did in this case.
Yes, we changed the gate locks as the other was difficult to use on the gate we went in and out of daily. The gate locks were difficult to undo on your return home, as they had to be unlocked and unchained over the gate as the locks were always on the inside of the gates, as per her instructions. We apologised for the inconvenience we caused her and changed the locks back to their original positions immediately.

Jack and Joy are extremely experienced house-sitters, and Jack (my husband) and I felt quite confident leaving them in charge of our property while we were overseas for five weeks.
Our dogs, cat and steers were our first priority, and were all given the care and time we expected. The dogs were walked each day, and close attention devoted to their health needs. One of the steers developed 3-Day Sickness, and Jack ensured he had access to water and food until he was up and about again.

Joy also cooked our dinner on our first night back....such a thoughtful thing to do when we were suffering jet lag!
We are great believers in AussieHousesitters...it gives us such peace of mind when we are away. Jack and Joy did everything we could have hoped for, and we would not hesitate in recommending them to future travellers. Many thanks!

We were fortunate to be able to meet them in advance, so we felt we'd made the right choice before we left. They thoroughly spoilt the dog, sent us pictures to show us how happy she was! the house was beautifully clean and Joy fed us for 2 nights on our return! We have no hesitation in recommending this lovely couple as housesitters.

We arrived home late on the last day of a very good holiday, tired after a long drive, to find freshly cooked bread, pumpkin soup, and quiche for us to have for dinner! The morning brought Jack's ... Jack and Joy will be back to do a longer sit for us in September, and have already asked us for a longer list of jobs for that occasion, as they like to stay busy! We are very pleased that they will be in charge for this longer period as well.

Our house was left immaculate, extra thoughtful things had been done to help us return to a made up fresh bed for our son, along with his washing done too :).
