Health is good. Mobile & active. Stairs are no problem. Own vehicle so we do NOT use yours. Usually with our caravan in tow for use between sits.
I, (Bethwyn) until recently was an active Church Elder / Carer and Organist, at our local Uniting Church in Adelaide. I also relieved music vacancies for other nearby Uniting Church, Baptist and Church of Christ congregations when needed.
When at home, I work in an "OPP SHOP" and have done so while on "sits". i.e. Lakes Entrance. Prolific knitter of jumpers for African babies.
My husband (Bill) was the Church Property / Events Supervisor - responsible for all hall bookings and renovation projects, including organizing Garage Sales, Model Railway Shows, monthly Community Luncheons and Concerts. Our extended travels and absences over the last few years have led to us to step aside from those duties.
HAD all the USUAL PETS when our children were younger and love cuddly friends. i.e Cats, dogs, rabbits & birds. Had a large fish pond. Dealt with guinea pigs, chickens, ducks on our sits.
We usually bring our caravan so that we have a holiday on the way, or when go to another nearby sit. (when the van may be useful to cover any gap)
We DO NOT LEAVE your house until you return and have inspected it. In fact an evening meal may be ready for you.
YOU WILL NOT RETURN TO DIRTY LAUNDRY as we use our own sheets and towels in the last few days and wash anything we may have used, including any that you may have left behind when you departed. (if O.K)
WE FIRST SAT in 2010 and since then have done over 47 sits in every state except Tasmania. Most have been as part of an extended but planned trip and arranged through Aussie House Sitters..
We have done REPEAT SITS at Lakes Entrance, (3 x) Wollongong, (2 x) Padthaway in S.A,. (2 x) Darwin (2 x) and Tanunda. (2 x) For some of those home owners we have had to decline further requests due to prior bookings.
The COVID 19 virus upset many plans in 2020, We were however able to travel to the Northern Territory (Darwin) where we completed 5 sits, one of which was a repeat.
Last year, (2021) we completed sits at Swan Hill, Boorooma, (Wagga Wagga) Goulburn, Canberra. Kempsey and Townsville.
Home owners have left wonderful "reviews" on Aussie House Sitters - which you may easily inspect.
My husband has now retired after a career in banking & finance and then as office manager for a garden supply company. There he also managed rental properties and the safety training and recruitment of amusement staff for the annual Royal Adelaide Show. In his younger days he played Aussie Rules football, was secretary / manager / trainer and did just about everything apart from coach.
As a couple, we have circled Australia twice in our various caravans, the first time about 35 years ago with our two children. About 12 years ago we repeated the trip. Then 10 years ago we joined a Uniting Church "work party" going to Tennant Creek, before heading to Darwin again. Since then we have "house sat" for varying periods each year, 2014 year being the longest. (7 mths)
OUR GARDEN IS NEAT & TIDY. My husband (Bill) is the worker who mows and trims etc and I am the "director" who knows the different plants and how to handle them. We feel very capable of maintaining your garden to your complete satisfaction. Now "experts" on ride on mowers.
Bill is also very much a "handyman" who can handle almost all household repair problems - or knows who should be contacted to fix them. (with your approval ) We have fixed leaking taps at 2 sits, replaced storm damaged fence palings at Ipswich and most recently, repaired a critical "garden only" bore water pump when it died. At Lakes Entrance, I "filled in" for our host at her local Op-Shop and as Church Organist.
As our 2 children grew up they had the USUAL ARRAY OF FAMILY PETS such as CATS, DOGS, GOLDFISH & RABBITS. We have cared for all of those plus Peach Faced Parrots, a White Dove / Pigeon and Guinea Pigs and poultry. Some dogs have slept on our bed.
WE ARE HAPPY FOR YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS TO "POP IN" to pick up the mail or check on the situation if you desire. PERIODIC UPDATES.
THE HOUSE WILL BE CLEAN AND TIDY AT ALL TIMES..

Bethwyn and Bill came to our rescue to look after our ménagee of pets whilst we went on holiday for a week! With having 2 large dogs, 2 cats, 2 birds and a fish I was wondering if we'd ever get anyone, especially with the dogs being big! Bill and bethwyn arrived early so they could meet us and the pets, and the dogs took to them immediately, I think they may have been spoilt as they sulked when we came home and b&b left! Lovely couple. Took great care of our 2 border collies and we returned to a clean and fur-free house. Communication was excellent throughout the process, from arranging, pre-arrival, during and after the sit. Bill and Bethwyn were very flexible when our circumstances changed and were even willing to assist us further had we required it. Altogether a very pleasant and reassuring experience.

Bethwyn and Bill were happy to travel to sit for just the 6 nights. We were able to go away confident that Remi and the garden would be taken well care of. They certainly lived up to that expectation. They are lovely people, easy to chat to and did a great job,( a job made a bit more complicated by the tree loppers coming in to do a job on their first morning). It is so nice to go away feeling reassured that the animals and house will be well cared for.

Bethwyn & Bill cared for my house and pets as if they were their own. Bethwyn ensured the house was clean and tidy, Bill attended to weeds, mowed the lawns and watered the garden. Otis (dog) and Ernie (bird) were more than happy with the attention they received - they didn't seem to have missed me! Bethwyn is a keen knitter - Otis developed a keen interest in this activity! During this sit, my town was threatened by bushfire. Bill & Bethwyn kept up to date with emergency information, ... MOREBethwyn & Bill cared for my house and pets as if they were their own. Smokey, David's small elderly dog is a delight to care for with simple eating requiements and a beautiful nature when walking. No barking and not inclined to wander. David and his daughter Lauren were super friendly and welcoming and responded promptly to any query. Would happily sit again.

They arrived the night before we left so we could meet, show them around our house and introduce them to Billy and Stella. We had no anxiety at all as we left our home and precious fur baby in their capable hands. While we were away they updated us and sent us pics to keep our kids happy. They managed the house with a laidback (it's all going to be fine) attitude and it was. We arrived home to a lovely greeting complete ... Bill and Bethwin arrived early for their four-week stay. We had time to discuss house requirements and for Jessie, our staffy, to get to know them.
Jessie was very well cared for as evidenced by the frequent photos and her condition upon our return.
The garden was well maintained and the hedges were trimmed! Everything in our home was in order and tidy.
Bill and Bethwin provided a welcoming homecoming, and cooked a delicious dinner for us all.
Bill & Bethwyn house sat for me from 14/2/16 to 5/3/16 in Brisbane .words are inadequate to endorse them !!! Trust was never an issue but was concerned for my dog . They focused all their attention on him & gave him lots of outings . he was so happy & depressed on their leaving !!My house was not only immaculate but there was a 'welcome home '' sign !!! all my ironing was done ....yeh & Bethwyn left me a very appreciate gift .
