Pet Lovers / House Carers

72, Home duties / Church Organist / Elder.

74, Retired Office Manager & Finance Operations Mgr.

RETIRED - MARRIED COUPLE / NON SMOKERS or DRINKERS. House proud home owners ourselves. ADELAIDE based.

EXPERIENCED SITTERS. (done over 35 sits -inc 5 repeats) HONEST & RELIABLE.

Current verifiable REFERENCES & POLICE CHECKS. See also "our Endorsements" from delighted home owners.

PET LOVERS who CARE FOR and CUDDLE your beloved animals, NOT just "occupiers" who put out a dish of food or clean water - when remembered. Walking of dogs is not a problem and is in fact part of our regular exercise routine.

Health is good. Mobile & active. Stairs are no problem. Own vehicle so we do NOT use yours. Usually with our caravan in tow.

I, (Bethwyn) until recently was an active Church Elder / Carer and Organist, at our local Uniting Church in Adelaide. I also relieved music vacancies for other nearby Uniting Church, Baptist and Church of Christ congregations when needed. When at home, I work in an "OPP SHOP" and have done so while on "sits". i.e. Lakes Entrance.

My husband (Bill) was the Property / Events Supervisor - responsible for all hall bookings and renovation projects, including organizing Garage Sales, Model Railway Shows, monthly Community Luncheons and Concerts. Our extended travels and absences over the last few years have led to us to step aside from those duties.

We are effectively NON DRINKERS and certainly NON SMOKERS.

HAD all the USUAL PETS (see below) when our children were younger and love cuddly friends. i.e Cats, dogs, rabbits & birds. Had a large fish pond.

WE DO NOT MIND TRAVELLING to an area to sit. We usually bring our caravan so that we then have a holiday on the way to the "sit". Then we explore a little more distant within your area before heading off, either home or to another nearby sit. (when the van may be useful to cover any gap)

We DO NOT leave your house until you return and have inspected it. If we then have a subsequent nearby sit, we have our own accommodation over any gap.

YOU WILL NOT RETURN TO DIRTY LAUNDRY as we use our own sheets and towels in the last few days and wash anything we may have used or that you may have left behind. You probably have enough of your own to do when you get back.

WE FIRST SAT AT IPSWICH in 2010 and then in 2011 at TERRIGAL and NOWRA. In 2012 we sat at MT. EVELYN, LAKES ENTRANCE, and at MT. ELIZA.

In 2013 we sat at WOLLONGONG (March) and at YANKALILLA (Sept) & PADTHAWAY (latter two in S.A) in Oct / Nov.

In 2014 we sat at MILTON (near Ulladulla) and NEWCASTLE in NSW, GOONDIWINDI on the Qld border then at LAKES ENTRANCE (Vic) and then at WOLLONGONG (NSW) before heading back to Adelaide. These latter two were return (second time) visits / sits for the same people. In all, 10 months away.

Only 2 sits in 2015 at POINT COOK in Victoria and then a repeat (3rd) sit for the same couple (and their 2 "children") at LAKES ENTRANCE. Then home to enjoy some significant grand-daughter birthday celebrations and major school / Uni events and to then totally renovate our kitchen.

5 Sits in 2016, (Brisbane, Palm Beach, Toowoomba, Safety Beach,(near Coff's Harbour) and finally 9 days at Mackay.
Then another 4 months touring Nthn Qld and the Nthn Territory before returning home at the beginning of Sept. Total time away was 7 mths.

For 2017 we attended the Avalon Air Show at Geelong in early March and then headed north for a sit at Canberra (17/3 to 26/3 and then to Kingaroy (Qld) from 3rd April to 17th. Then back home to Adelaide for some important birthday functions. Beginning early July we headed to Darwin and then did a lovely sit there before going across to Western Australia via Broome, with a short sit in Perth before heading home.

Last year, (2018) we sat at Brisbane (repeat) then Caboolture and then on the Gold Coast. Home in Adelaide for Christmas

In 2019, we have done only 3 sits. The first in the Barossa Valley and then at Bendigo and Canberra.

All owners have supplied GLOWING REFERENCES, and remained in contact with us. For one couple we have "sat" for them 3 times, and another couple twice with one sit we had to decline. Other home owners have left "endorsements" or "reviews" on Aussie House Sitters - which you may easily inspect..

My husband has now retired after a career in banking & finance and then as office manager for a garden supply company. There he also managed rental properties and the safety training and recruitment of amusement staff for the annual Royal Adelaide Show. In his younger days he played Aussie Rules football, was secretary / manager / trainer and did just about everything apart from coach.

As a couple, we have circled Australia twice in our various caravans, the first time 30 years ago with our two children. About 10 years ago we repeated the trip. Then 8 years ago we joined a Uniting Church "work party" going to Tennant Creek before heading to Darwin again. Since then we have "house sat" for varying periods each year, 2014 year being the longest.

OUR GARDEN IS NEAT & TIDY. My husband (Bill) is the worker who mows and trims etc and I am the "director" who knows the different plants and how to handle them. We feel very capable of maintaining your garden to your complete satisfaction. Now "experts" on ride on mowers.

Bill is also very much a "handyman" who can handle almost all household repair problems - or knows who should be contacted to fix them. (with your approval ) We have fixed leaking taps at 2 sits, replaced storm damaged fence palings at Ipswich and most recently repaired a critical "garden only" bore water pump when it died. At Lakes Entrance I "filled in" for our host at her local Op-Shop and as Church Organist.

As our 2 children grew up they had the USUAL ARRAY OF FAMILY PETS such as CATS, DOGS, GOLDFISH & RABBITS. At Ipswich we cared for Peach Faced Parrots and recently for a White Dove / pigeon. As part of our "sits" we have also cared for guinea pigs and poultry

WE HAVE CARED FOR all size DOGS (and 5 cats) and lost our hearts to each, some sleeping on our bed. We could easily "kidnap" any of them. Your pets are now our pets - allowing us to travel.

We are respectful of your trust in allowing us to "sit" for you and have no interest in your personal or business dealings apart from ensuring the house and "children" are safe and well.

WE ARE HAPPY FOR YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS TO "POP IN" to pick up the mail or check on the situation if you desire.

THE HOUSE WILL BE CLEAN AND TIDY AT ALL TIMES and the "children" (your pets) happy and lovingly cared for and WALKED if required or a nice day.

We are happy with most pets but not overly comfortable at the thought of dealing with farm animals; even though any horse or cow will get a friendly pat at the "Royal Show". We do not however mind rural areas.

Thank you for your interest. We welcome your enquiry and will happily try to help. Your area may be one we have not considered or visited and may be just the "spark" to induce us to make a special trip. PHONE enquiries are WELCOME.

AVAILABILITY: Please see dates above. WE DO NOT SIT OVER CHRISTMAS due to family committments., Ideally NSW or Sthn Qld (or Vic if we are ready to head home). Do not be afaid to ask though.

Bethwyn and Bill came to our rescue to look after our ménagee of pets whilst we went on holiday for a week! With having 2 large dogs, 2 cats, 2 birds and a fish I was wondering if we'd ever get anyone, especially with the dogs being big! Bill and bethwyn arrived early so they could meet us and the pets, and the dogs took to them immediately, I think they may have been spoilt as they sulked when we came home and b&b left! Anyway, we felt so at ease with b&b and like we'd known them forever! ... MORE

B & B were lovely to communicate with in the lead up, they were very sweet and lovely to chat to when we met the day before we left. They took wonderful care of our dog and our home. We loved the 'welcome home' sign and handmade coat-hanger gifts upon our return, it was so sweet ;)
LISA (Curtin ACT, Sep 2019 - 1 week)
We had the honour of meeting Bill and Bethwyn the night before we left for three weeks in the USA. They are salt of the earth people; honest, caring and full of great stories from their travels. We had no anxiety at all as we left our home and precious fur baby in their capable hands. While we were away they updated us and sent us pics to keep our kids happy. They managed the house with a laidback (it's all going to be fine) attitude and it was. We arrived home to a lovely greeting complete ... MORE

No rating Bethwyn and Bill were fantastic house sitters for our 3 cats and lively golden retriever for a week. All were healthy and happy upon return. The house was in beautiful condition and there was a charming welcome wagon when we returned to welcome us home. Bethwyn and Bill were easy to coordinate with, considering crazy flight hours, and provided worry free care for our pets and home. You would be lucky to snag Bethwyn and Bill to look after your loved pets or home.

No rating What a lovely couple, felt like long lost relatives, have finally arrived to look after our home and animals, My daughter Abi, especially took a shine to them as well almost thinking they were her grandparents. The house was neat and tidy when we arrived home with a big welcome home sign and a meal ready for us that night. The animals and garden were looking happy and healthy. they kept in contact, every couple of days, which is very much appreciated. Would recommend them to anyone that ... MORE

No rating Bethwyn and Bill did a great job of taking care of our pet pigeon Pearl, and our home! We came home to find our house in better condition than we left it, and a happy fat pigeon who'd even had some tricks taught to her by Bill! Bill was handy around the house and we are so grateful for him being able to remove some stripped screws for us from our decking, and Bethwyn sorted out our messy Tupperware drawer and also left us a lovely thank-you gift of some home-made knitted goodies! They were ... MORE

LAURA (Chirnside Park VIC, Nov 2016)
No rating Bill and Bethwin arrived early for their four-week stay. We had time to discuss house requirements and for Jessie, our staffy, to get to know them. Jessie was very well cared for as evidenced by the frequent photos and her condition upon our return. The garden was well maintained and the hedges were trimmed! Everything in our home was in order and tidy. Bill and Bethwin provided a welcoming homecoming, and cooked a delicious dinner for us all.
