Hello there.......thank you for taking the time in reading our profile.
We have been house-sitting for 8 years and we love what we do......and do what we love. During this time, and through house-sitting, have made many wonderful friends.
We are a retired, healthy, and a very house proud couple who love travelling this beautiful country of ours. House-sitting allows us to be able to do this by reducing our overheads, whilst at the same time taking us to many and varied locations throughout this great land. We have no pre-conceived destinations and will travel wherever the wind may take us.
We are honest, non smokers, non drinkers, homebodies and are completely trustworthy. Our employment history is in the legal areas. Roslyn with law firms and Alan with the Australian Government. We are 100% reliable and once we have committed to your house sit we would never let you down, unless of course, something were to happen beyond our control.
We are both animal lovers and will look after your pets (and your home) as if they were our own. We mind all types of domestic animals including dogs (from very small to very large), cats, sheep, stock horses, draft horses and miniature horses, chickens, ducks, guinea fowl and keets, aviary birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, fish, alpacas, goats, donkeys and even macaws. We are also happy to mind the native birds and wildlife that may frequent your garden and will always go that extra mile to give all of the animals and birds our full attention and love.
Our children and their families live in Canberra and Brisbane and much as we love being on the road we also love to be able to visit them too. Hence, gaps in our "Availability Calendar" are often for family time. However, please feel free to check with us if you see a gap and it is what you need. Often we can help in some way, or shuffle something around. We can also put you in contact with other reliable house-sitters if they are available when you need them.
FYI we have been trying to cut back on our house-sitting but this has not gone to plan. We have sold our ute and caravan in anticipation that this would happen. Past clients still call and some are even flying us to their locations. However, we still prefer to drive our car to your location.
Endorsements: Lots of our endorsements refer to our beautiful dog, Bucks. We are sad to say that he has now crossed the Rainbow Bridge and we have no animal travelling with us. Also, AHS have now changed their endorsement policy. Endorsements are now called.......Reviews with Star Ratings. This took effect from 01/11/2018. Please note that all endorsements, prior to that date will still show, but some with no star rating. However, if you want any references from any of our past endorsements please ask and we will be happy to provide you with phone contacts. You may also note that we have no updated references. This is due to the fact that many of our sits are now return visits and we do not ask our "friends" to endorse again. But, again, (with their permission,) if you would like updates from them we are more than happy to provide telephone contacts.
If you want to know a little more about us then please give us a call or message for a chat at any time. Please be aware that because we are often in rural areas the phone service may not always be good, so our best contact is by message through this site. Sometimes our internet is poor as well so if you don't hear from us immediately you will understand why. We will always respond, and try to do this within a couple of hours, if we are in range.

Oh my goodness, Ros and Alan are simply one in a million! They looked after our home so well we just couldn't thank them enough. They are superstars! The home was spotless when we arrived back, our puppies were so well cared for, our lawns were mowed, and they were kind enough to purchase a few little things for the home. I don't think I can put into words how fantastic Ros and Alan were. We met them before we left and felt so comfortable with them looking after our home and fur babies. Ros kept us updated with pictures and stories and walked our lucky dog every day. Alan picked us up from the airport and we came home to a spotless home, treats/dinner and animals that were not fazed about seeing us as I think they had the best 2 weeks of their life with Ros and Alan. We cannot thank them enough for accepting ... MOREI don't think I can put into words how fantastic Ros and Alan were. Our puppies and cat LOVED Ros and Alan.. We were grateful for the regular updates and photos throughout their stay allowing us to feel unworried about our babies. Ros and Alan were excellent communicators before and during the house sit. They were also very thoughtful ensuring there was food in the house on our return and even collecting us from the airport and planting some vegetables! We appreciated their willingness to be flexible with their departure time to ensure there was no risk the ... MOREOur puppies and cat LOVED Ros and Alan.. Not only did they take care of all that we asked (and we had a pretty big ask!) but we came home to a beautiful meal and freshly baked cake!! There was ... Well having come home after Ros & Alan took great care of everyone and everything we realised that they are the angels in that dream! Not only did they take care of all that we asked (and we had a pretty big ask!) but we came home to a beautiful meal and freshly baked cake!! There was even enough left over for the next evenings dinner, We couldn't have been more looked after and loved by Ros, she is the fairy god mother you always wanted. And Al connected with our animals like he was the whisperer of all things great and small, he even had one of our bees land lovingly on him!
They spoilt us with beautiful Christmas presents and even purchased some useful things to use around the house (like a plug for the sink, a beautiful hand towel and a long handled dust pan and brush) When we said our goodbyes it was with love and a touch of sadness. If you ever have the opportunity to meet Ros & Alan you are lucky. If you are REALLY lucky (like we were) then they will drive up your driveway too one day.

St Marys is a small, unique, community in the Fingal Valley of Tasmania. The population is small but the community spirit is huge. We felt right at home from the moment we arrived.
If you ever get the opportunity to mind Rachael and Jon's place and animals take it with open arms. You certainly won't regret it. However, we want to say if you get the opportunity it will be because we can't do it. We have made two wonderful new friends and we know that our paths will cross again. Roz and Alan were wonderful house sitters. They were very capable and everything was looked after so well while I was away. They are such thoughtful people too. My dinner was ready on my return and everything was clean and tidy. I enjoyed my break away knowing that everything was in such good hands.

We could never have asked for anyone better to stay. We had constant updates when we had range and heartwarming photos of the girls snuggled up with Alan.
On our return home Ros had made a delicious quiche, stocked our fridge with essentials (and some) and everything has continued on at home so smoothly like we never went away.
I could not recommend both Ros and Alan highly enough. Future household families and pets will be so lucky to have them in their home. Ros is an impeccable house keeper and really does take pride. I could just keep writing and praising them.
We will remain friends forever and I'm looking forward to visiting them again this week with the girls as they are staying in a town not too far away.

We had the pleasure of meeting Roz and Alan a couple of months previous to our holiday, and from that moment we didn't have a worry or concern about leaving our 2 pets. They instantly felt like family. Our home and garden were as if we had never left, and our pets were lovingly cared for. Roz's Communication with us while away was amazing and of great comfort. Pictures of the girls every few days made us smile along with a story telling us how they were being cared for and any walks or ... Ros and Alan were amazing!! They not only took great care of our home during a very cold winter but also our garden, no mean feat in such cold weather.
A big part of the job was wrangling our furry friends and what a job they did. We were kept in the loop with any problems along the way and were as well as receiving photos and updates.
I have no hesitation in recommending these beautiful people and hope one day they can House sit for us again.

If you are lucky enough to be contacted by Ros and Alan and have them house sit for you and look after your pets don't hesitate to say yes. We were very nervous about leaving our 2 fur children for 3 weeks especially given their nervous nature during storms. We felt at ease very quickly because Ros and Alan treated our pups like they were their own and let them do their normal thing around the house. We could tell by the snaps Ros sent us that they appreciated the normal routine, walks and ... It's all the little things that make a big difference. Keeping in regular contact with lots of photos from home, meant we weren't left wondering if everything was ok. All the animals were very loved and very well cared for, spoiled rotten in fact, with the chooks getting wonderful ... MORERocking Ros and Big Al (AKA Ros and Alan) are simply the most wonderful caring couple you could hope to meet. They cared for our home and pets for 6 weeks with such love and generosity and we are so very grateful.

Our home was absolutely immaculate when we came home, with Ros having expressed herself confessed passion for cleaning and Alan keeping the pool sparkling.
We were very touched by their generosity, we are still finding lovely surprises! Ros and Alan are two very special people and I'm sure that anyone who is lucky enough to meet them will never forget them.

Ros, Alan and Bucks, their elderly Cocker Spaniel, lovingly tendered our household whilst we enjoyed a long awaited family holiday. Knowing that the house, garden and our pets were being well cared for made this holiday even more relaxing.
Our pets had their own holiday as it was obvious they were spoiled. A fortnight before we were to leave, one of our cats disappeared. He returned worse for wear the day after we left. Ros and Alan went out of their way to nurse him back to good health to ... MORERos, Alan and Bucks, their elderly Cocker Spaniel, lovingly tendered our household whilst we enjoyed a long awaited family holiday. Knowing that the house, garden and our pets were being well cared for made this holiday even more relaxing.
Our pets had their own holiday as it was obvious they were spoiled. A fortnight before we were to leave, one of our cats disappeared. He returned worse for wear the day after we left. Ros and Alan went out of their way to nurse him back to good health to the point that his ordeal seems almost forgotten.
It would seem that all our animals, including fishy, bonded with Ros and Alan. Their attention to detail was exceptional and social media posts with photos and commentary were reassuring as well as entertaining. Bucks also bonded with our dog Roxy and our three cats very quickly adjusted to his presence....and even shared water bowls.
Our restaurant-quality welcome home meal that Ros prepared was much appreciated after a long day on the road. Also, the bunch of fresh flowers and parting gift, a magnificent local-made mosaic hanging art is something we will treasure forever!
We highly recommend this special trio to house-sit and care for your loved animals.
Almost 2 years on from Ros, Alan and Bucks house-sitting for us, these beautiful people continued to keep us in the loop with their ongoing house-sitting journey across the country! You are the most amazing people that we are most privileged to have met with a connection that will be with us lifelong! We hope that when we plan our next big trip you would be willing to come back out to far west - Broken Hill.

From our first contact with Ros we knew we had a great couple to house sit for our 4 weeks overseas. During our time away Ros regularly communicated with us to keep us up to date on how things were going at home. Bucksy their dog settled into home very well and got on with our pets. He is a gentle natured dog that was great company for our dog Milo. On our arrival home they had left provisions in our fridge and had a meal prepared and cooking for dinner. They looked after our house, Guinea fowls, two agisted horses and two fur babies (cats). They have a sweet dog called Bucksy who my cats did not mind at all once they discovered he was a gentle soul. Ros and Alan took excellent care of our house while we were away for a month. Their dog Bucks is a gentle dog who got on well with our 2 indoor cats.
We got regular updates and photos from Ros and Alan, assuring us that all was well while we were away.
Our cats were well cared for and happy and healthy when we got back home. Ros and Alan took extra time to make sure our shy cat Geronimo was ok. Our cat Rhebus was friends with them from the time they arrived.

Oh my goodness, Ros and Alan are simply one in a million! They looked after our home so well we just couldn't thank them enough. They are superstars! The home was spotless when we arrived back, our puppies were so well cared for, our lawns were mowed, and they were kind enough to purchase a few little things for the home.
