House sitter extraordinaire and Nanny to the stars

42, Professional house/pet sitter and energy worker

Hello. I am a 42 year old professional carer (Australian citizen) who has many years of full time professional and exchange house/pet sitting.

***Update: I need to stay close to Kiama during school term and can only travel outside the Illawarra during school holidays***

I have recently taken some time off this site after having back to back professional house/pet sitting bookings in QLD, NSW, VIC and TAS. I have returned to NSW to be closer to family and friends and also reconnect with my lovely repeat clients in the Illawarra. This site is my preferred way to fill gaps in my paid sitting work, with free exchange sits, and I hope to help as many families as possible.

I have been blessed with lots of lovely house/pet-sitting positions and have loved them all. As an overview of my experience I have
-vet visits (planned and unplanned) administered daily medication and first aid (tablets, creams, eye drops, ear antibiotic, naturopathic remedies, changed bandages, splinters, bites etc) to a animals diagnosis with depression/anxiety and other physical health related experiences
-fostered well monitored routines to assist in creating a calm/safe/active/playful/restful environments
-followed very unique and specific dietary requirements
-cared for puppies still in training (incl toilet training)
I have cared for
-rescue/trauma care animals
-animals with special needs such as elderly with little mobility, deaf, albino and those experiencing mental health
-cats, dogs, chickens, rooster, ducks, geese, partridge, pheasants, fish, alpacas, wildlife and any other creature that pays me a visit during my stay.
-herb, vegetable, flower gardens and freshly laid grass lawns.
-Rayburn heating systems, rain water tanks, water pumps, open fire and solar heating.

I now have permanent work Tuesday , Wednesday , Thursday in Kiama (Illawarra area). This still allows me to continue my business of giving extra TLC to animals while their humans are away as well as offering time for the energy work I do by request.

I would love to find some homes, gardens and animals to care for as I put roots down in the area.

I am a non smoker who has a current Police Check and First Aid Certificate. I have been a trusted house/pet-sitter in the past for employers, colleagues, friends, friends of friends, AHS clients and private clients through my own business. To date I've been asked by all of my bookings to return to sit for them again and I'm sure they would be more than happy to speak to you directly about me and their experience.

Growing up I spent a lot of time on my grandparents farm and would love the opportunity to care for more farm animals. My long term goal is to one day open my own rescue animal sanctuary where animals big and small would live freely in a place of kindness.

In previous years I have specialised in Nanny work both as a live in and live out sole carer of children aged 0- 16 years...and pets at times too. With 15 years in the Early Childhood field, high quality care, first aid, awareness of health and safety, appropriate age/development activities, along with transportation...care is my area of expertise.
I have also been a travel Nanny in my role as a 24 hour live-in sole care Nanny for Russell Crowe and Danielle Spencer's two young boys. With this role my attention to detail, awareness of security, care of highly valuable items/spaces, and respect for privacy was highly tuned.

I believe that being a very committed and responsible person with my experience and skill set would make me the perfect carer for your home, possessions, gardens and most importantly the beloved animal family members in your life. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to know more.

No rating Miranda did an absolutely amazing job looking after our pugs Pipette and Bunsen while we were overseas. We loved our photo updates and were confident that the pugs were more than happy in Miranda's capable hands. When we returned the house was in perfect condition and we highly recommend her service. Keep up the good work Miranda, we would love to have you pet sit again soon.

Miranda gets the (our) award as the house sitter of house sitters :) . So gentle and loving , she fitted into our home so easily. We knew from the moment we met her that she would be excellent, and we were not disappointed . She looked after our home, our garden and most importantly our two furry friends with much love and caring. We came back after four weeks to everything looking so cared for, including our dogs. We get the sense that even though they greeted us with great excitement, they ... MORE
SHARON (Coledale NSW, Sep 2019 - 4 weeks)
No rating Miranda went out of her way to make first contact with us when we decided to have her do our housesit. Miranda travelled from one end of Tasmania to other just to meet us and discuss the housesit. We were very comfortable with her, and knew she would be great with looking after our house. Unfortunately prior to the house sit we had to ring and cancel, due to family issues. Miranda was very understanding and compassionate. We wish her well for the future.
GARY (Devonport TAS, Jan 2018 - 3 months)
No rating Miranda, thanks very much for looking after our house and animals during the three weeks we were away. It was such a relief for us to know that everybody (including the snails) were so very well looked after. We loved the beautifully written, detailed updates (with pictures) about the daily activities at home, this helped make our time away that much more enjoyable as we knew everything at home was in good hands. We were happy that you enjoyed our little world as much as we do. We really ... MORE

No rating 1st December 2017 To whom it may concern, Miranda Knott looked after our house and pets for a week mid-November. She looked after our two cats, two dogs, tropical fish and baby guppies. She also looked after the chooks, veggie and fruit garden. The plants and flowers in the courtyard were also watered as the weather had been very warm during the week. I thoroughly recommend Miranda to look after your pets, house, or garden. When we came back, the house was spotless, immaculate ... MORE

No rating Miranda is totally wonderful, and anyone needing a sitter for their house or their pets would be lucky to find her available. Our dog was extremely well cared for, even down to a visit to the vet. Miranda sent us regular updates and photos and we knew we didn't need to worry about her at all, despite the ongoing eye and ear issues common to cocker spaniels. The garden was also very well cared for and the house was spotless on our return. We'd have Miranda back again in a heart beat.
BRIDGET (Mount Nelson TAS, Oct 2017 - 3 weeks)
No rating Miranda was a delight during every stage of the house sit. Our four cats took to her immediately after she gave them special attention to get to know them. Her regular emails and photo updates were really lovely, and we felt so reassured that everything was going well. The house was spotless and the garden flourishing. We would highly recommend Miranda for any house sit; she has a wonderful energy and we just loved her!
NARELLE (Kingston TAS, Oct 2017 - 2 weeks 4 days)
No rating Miranda proved to be reliable and trustworthy housesitter/pet minder. From the initial contact she was easy to communicate with and instilled confidence in her ability to look after Nelson, our dog and Hansel the cat. She left the house spotless on leaving. Her updates while we were gone for 4 weeks gave us comfort. Timely message updates and photos kept us in touch and connected. I would recommend her without hesitation.
PHILIP (Blackbutt NSW, Aug 2017 - 4 weeks)
No rating We were really sorry that we were unable to have Mirada house sit for us. At the last minute our circumstances changed and we no longer required a house sitter as our daughter arrived home unexpectedly and would be doing this for us. Miranda was very understanding, sympathetic and adaptable, changing her plans too at the last minute. We would have absolutely no hesitation in asking her to sit for us again - if she would have us - given that it was us who changed the arrangements. We'd ... MORE

No rating Miranda looked after our house and pets for eleven weeks this year. She did a brilliant job and we returned to find the house spotless, the pets all happy and healthy and everything in order. She handled a couple of animal mishaps with common sense and reported to us regularly with photos of the pets. She can be highly recommended.
PAM (Lorne VIC, May 2017 - 2 months 3 weeks)
No rating Miranda looked after my Home and Bulldog for the Month of April 2017. She made every effort to get through the Cyclone and be on time, while many Motorists were stranded. While I was away, she emailed regular photos of my Dog on his usual walks, and updates and questions about his health. I always felt 100% confident in her ability. I returned home to find an extremely clean and well kept house, equally as clean as I left. I've used many housesitters over the years, and would have to rate ... MORE

No rating Miranda minded our home and dogs for 4 weeks and was truly awesome! As our beloved Dalmatians are a bit of a handful and are particular with people thankfully they who took to her immediately. I knew our dogs were going to be in good hands from the moment they met and I was not wrong. Not only did she keep their medications and dietary needs up Miranda kept us up-to-date with pictures of them playing happily. Miranda also looked after our home and garden with love and care. We returned to a ... MORE
CAROLYN (West Wollongong NSW, Feb 2017 - 4 weeks approx.)
No rating Miranda Knott was our house sitter for a period of 6 weeks from October until December 2014 whilst my husband and I were overseas on holiday. During that time, Miranda looked after our very energetic one-year-old English Staffy, Vinnie and tended to our vegetable garden. She took in all our mail and asked prior to us leaving if bills needed to be opened and forwarded to us. Miranda was very competent, organised and friendly. She even went to the effort of introducing herself to our ... MORE

No rating In August 2015 my partner and I took off too America for 3 weeks leaving our 3 year old English staffy and 3 bedroom house in the care of Miranda. It was a very difficult decision to head off overseas leaving our gorgeous pooch behind, but Miranda made the process so much easier. Miranda sent us email updates with messages and photos of our pooch to keep us up to date. She organised additional food when she ran out while we were away and definitely went above and beyond for our girl. ... MORE

No rating On searching for a house sitter on Aussie House Sitters, we approached Miranda Knott to look after our house and pets for a month while we were on vacation. Miranda was an absolute delight to deal with, and proved to be a caring and very capable person. She took great care of our cat and fish (as well as the local fauna) and kept the house in immaculate condition. During our trip she kept in contact via the internet, supplying us with a stream of pictures and verbal feedback on our home and ... MORE

No rating Miranda is a great house/pet sitter. She looked after our place including two cats and a pot garden for over a month and did a wonderful job. The cats took to her straight away and when we got back clearly adored her. The place was in beautiful condition and the pot garden was healthier than when we left. Miranda was also really helpful with forwarding any important mail. I am really happy to recommend her to anyone needing a house sitter. Eve
