70+, retired teacher
70+, retired teacher & yacht skipper
We are FORMER teachers, boat builders & round the world sailors, and owners of dogs, cats and the whole menagerie of pets.
Now happily retired back to our hometown Port Fairy where we spend time with friends and family plus grand dogs, cats and chooks.
Volunteering is a big part of our lives now. Wildlife rescue and fundraising, Foodshare delivery, Cancer council fundraising, and volunteer driving for our local aged care patients.
Animals many and varied, have always been a very big part of our life.
We have had quite a number of different dog breeds join our family and we love meeting and interacting with others. It always delights us to see how quickly we as strangers can bond with animals when they realise we are their new carers.
We have de-cluttered down to a new low maintenance home and garden which can survive with little attention. We have no pets at present but very regularly sitting the grand dogs.
We have led an adventurous well-travelled life, always finding that extended stays gave us more connection to a place. We especially like to escape to somewhere warmer for part of Victoria's winter.
Having owner-built two houses including our present home and renovated a few, we are both very practical hands-on people who can sort out most problems as they arise.
Our home is one of 17 located within a parkland setting. As President of the owners corporation Heather is responsible for overseeing maintenance of the whole area. Ron manages two properties for absentee owners.
We are garden lovers who have previously established and maintained quite extensive gardens -flowers, vegies, fruit trees, native plants, ornamental and indoors.
We understand that everyone's house & pets are different & we seriously take this on board. We will listen to and follow through with meeting your specific requirements while we stay and promise to keep you updated while you are away.
We are absolutely reliable. When we make a commitment only a completely unforeseen event would prevent us from keeping that commitment.
The opportunity to become your house sitter would be a great privilege & something we would not take for granted, as we both understand it is a necessity to respect your house & property & keep it well maintained while in residence.
Extra phone referees are available if you wish. Living in a small close-knit community like we do, most people know us.
We are both fully vaccinated, non smokers, and as volunteers for Moyne Health our local hospital and aged care, we both have current police checks.
