Compassionate carers you can trust
45, Homeschooling Educator
63, Rural Sociologist
We are a family of four consisting of myself (Roweena), my husband David and our two children, Darcy (10) and Maeve (6). We are a mature, non-smoking couple who have each been proud homeowners for many years. Our family is caring, considerate, honest and reliable.
Our interests include all aspects of animal care and pampering, sustainable living, natural history, bushwalking, gardening, fossil finding, beach combing, visiting libraries, museums and art galleries, creating and appreciating art, enjoying music, drama, reading and participating in citizen science programs etc.
We love to travel and learn about different places, so much so, that after a months road trip through South Australia and Victoria in late 2016 we decided to pack up our beautiful family home in the Perth Hills and embark on a great Australian journey. We have been full time house sitters since mid May 2017 and are grateful for having been trusted with the care of 40 properties ranging from inner suburban family homes to a 150 acre hobby farm.
We love house sitting as it provides us with the opportunity to move slowly and to take in our environment and the range of experiences each unique house sit has to offer. Importantly, we feel our lives are immeasurably enriched by the opportunity to connect with and care for other people's pets. We also love to incorporate our experiences into our homeschooling program and house sitting provides a great base from which to do this.
David and myself are both animal lovers and experienced in handling a wide variety of animals. Apart from keeping poultry and companion dogs, David with his two brothers and father bred fine wool merinos for a number of years on the family hobby farm, which they owned for 50+ years. Myself, on the other hand, have always had companion animals in my life. I grew up with dogs, cats, rabbits, poultry, birds and fish. I also have experience in wildlife care and have native animal handling experience from biological field work. Both our children are very gentle, respectful and experienced with animals of all sorts, shapes and sizes.
We are delighted that our animal handling experience has given us the confidence and ability to provide exceptional care to a wide range of animals while house sitting, including:
- Companion Animals; dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, in-house parrots, aviary birds and aquariums,
- Livestock; sheep (including bottle fed lambs), alpacas, goats, ponies, horses and pigs
- Poultry; chickens, ducks, geese and guinea fowl,
- Wildlife; kangaroos (including 1 bottle fed joey), wallabies and possums.
We pride ourselves on the quality of care and attention we provide to ensure the needs of all pets and property are well met. Appreciation of our efforts is reflected by the excellent reviews and endorsements we have received.
To date we have house sat for periods ranging from 3 days to 3 months and are open to opportunities of all durations. We look forward to providing a high level of service in caring for your home and pets, so that you can relax and holiday with peace of mind, while we do what we love!
