Clare & Jayne

Hello, Clare and Jayne here!

We are a very responsible, reliable, tidy, animal-loving non-smoking couple currently living in Sydney. I (Clare) am from the UK, and currently work full time as a Research Fellow at UNSW in public health research. Jayne is Australian, and works full time in the CBD. As a result of COVID, we now both have the flexibility to work 100% from home, meaning we are about all/most of the time to give lots of love and cuddles to furries!

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, we were full-time housesitters via Aussie Housesitters for 9 months from June 2019. We absolutely loved house-sitting as it's been a marvellous way of getting to know different parts of the city, and looking after lots of furries until we can commit to getting our own! When the pandemic hit, we had to move into an apartment, but have really missed our housesitting days. So we have decided to pop our advert up again!

We have done numerous housesits, with many repeat bookings. We've looked after a very naughty but hilarious Burmese cat, an assortment of birds, including a wild family of 26 cockatoos (!), an extremely energetic Border Collie puppy, two elderly dogs that required some medication and hand-feeding, a hilarious cat with a LOT of attitude, two cheeky and energetic West Highland Terriers, as well as a brood of chickens, and a huge rare plant nursery and giant garden!

We lived in South Africa prior to Australia, where we both worked on an adolescent HIV research project as a Project Manager (Jayne) and Researcher (Clare), for 1.5 years. Whilst there we lived in a house with 2 Border Collies and a Burmese cat. Every weekend we took them to the beach and walked them regularly as well as assuming full responsibilities when the owners were away. We absolutely loved having a house full of furries and miss them hugely!

I've always had fish as pets (tropical and coldwater), as well as hamsters and Jayne has been a cat owner most of her life. We are very comfortable looking after all sorts of animals! We are also both really keen gardeners, so looking after plants, mowing lawns, weeding etc as well as pet care and keeping your house nice and clean is something we really enjoy :) Jayne also spent many years working in the UK as a live-in carer for elderly and disabled people so is accustomed to keeping homes and gardens clean, tidy and in good repair.
