We are an active retired couple who love travelling around Australia.
Anna is a former school Assistant Principal from Sydney with 35 years experience in education working with children and teachers.
Des is a retired university academic who has worked in technology education and teaching for 35 years.
We are non-smoking, house-proud people who love animals, pets and enjoy gardening. We are looking forward to helping you with securing your property and caring for your adorable pets and garden.
We know the importance of being able to leave your pets and property and have the peace of mind that your precious pets will be cared for and your house will be well looked after.
Des is very technically minded and is a practical handy man. He even carries a range of tools and equipment when travelling.
Anna has the "green thumb" and loves the garden and all sorts of plants. She would have loved to own a little farm but the best she could manage is an organic garden, several worm farms and a number of free-ranging hens. In 2009 Anna started keeping backyard chickens. She began with 6 Isa Browns and ended up breeding and selling a range of heritage breeds. She is considered to be very knowledgeable with backyard chickens.
Over the years our family has owned and cared for a range of pets including cats, rabbits, dogs and birds. Our little dog, Lily was an important part of our family. Our happiest times as a family included her. Sadly she passed away in 2011. We miss her and would love to meet your pets.

Anna and Des are incredible house sitters. They are personable, articulate and very capable in all aspects of household management. My home was left in impeccable condition upon my return. All plants had survived the extremely hot summer and my elusive cat, Jett, was alive, well and his quirky requirements catered for.

Anna and Des were the perfect house sitters! They did a wonderful job looking after our farm here at Buffalo View managing chickens, sheep and our little blind lamb Poppy.
The day after we left there was a problem with a burst pipe and Des and Anna who are very resourceful had the problem sorted before nightfall.

Anna & Des were the best decision we made concerning our protracted saving and longed for European holiday. Hugo our Furchild is mature and has to receive masses of love, medication and requirements we were slightly embarrassed to ask for, but they put us all at the greatest of ease by being extremely organised, thoughtful and full of gentleness. Their kinship and obvious extensive expertise with animals was clear when upon a prior meeting with us Hugo lay down on their arrival at Des's feet ... We will forever be grateful that Anna and Des came into our lives. Frequent updates kept my husband from asking every day upon waking " I wonder what Hugo is doing today???". I could just show him the photos they would send with Hugo talking in speech bubbles to us. We could really relax now....and we did,
The icing on the cake was returning to a home that had been as lovingly cared and attended to as much as our Boy's 5 star Staycation was! Garlic picked, plaited and hung to dry, Baby pansies in wheelbarrow, Strawberries in pots, Seeds collected from sweet peas because she knows I love and grow them from those same sweet pea memories of my Grandparent's garden. Roquette seeds too, as she knows its my fave. Various beautiful vegetables and multicoloured leaves planted in the bed where the garlic had been. Scattered through our greenspace are various new seedlings in pots with fresh colours spilling over each other. Mulch laid. Grasses trimmed. Anna's pride and pleasure shines through every tiny space, with the amazing and humbling part being WE actually reap what she has gifted to us, Interior immaculate too! Seriously, do Aussie House sitters know what they have here?!
And Hugo! Still misses Des, Walks, parks, sticks collected and brought home. Both of them purchasing special Christmas day treats for him, He even crafted a new pooper scooper for us! (FINALLY our sixteen y.o. wants to help, my tongs being disdained by everyone. Ha, Ha. Never underestimate the distance you need from the poo to your hand. Lesson learned Des.). We have a lot to live up to! We salute you Des and Anna, You are welcome forever in our home.
I think Hugo got the better deal than his European human family members!!!! Just saying.

They were obviously very experienced in house sitting, easy to communicate with and left the house immaculate. The cats, goats, chickens and fish were well cared for and they gave the children lots of updates while we were away. We have had a lot of house sitters over the years and Anna and Des are as good as they come!

As first timers using Aussie House Sitters, or that matter have any house sitters stay in our house while holidaying, we were quite apprehensive about having total strangers stay here to care for our pets. Well...after a very coincidental chance meeting with Des and Anna who just happened to be house sitting next door back in March we were more than happy to get away!
Our first contact in March was as if we had all known each other for years, many laughs and great stories! Not to mention ... MOREAs first timers using Aussie House Sitters, or that matter have any house sitters stay in our house while holidaying, we were quite apprehensive about having total strangers stay here to care for our pets. Well...after a very coincidental chance meeting with Des and Anna who just happened to be house sitting next door back in March we were more than happy to get away!
Our first contact in March was as if we had all known each other for years, many laughs and great stories! Not to mention sharing one of Des's famous pizzas next door! We were looking forward to catching up again in August when we were heading off to visit family and friends down south.
Des and Anna were kind enough to stay a couple of nights before we left which was fantastic as we got to cover all the daily needs for all so everyone was happy in their routines while we were away. It was also great that we could just drive off and leave them all together which caused less anguish for everyone!
We were concerned with leaving them with our older dog Tom, as he is nearing 16 and has certain health issues, mainly he can hardly see or hear and has problems getting up and down our stairs some days. Absolutely no problem...Tom was cared for and loved as if he was their own!
We had a ball together the couple of nights we spent at home before we went away and we enjoyed a gourmet BBQ from Anna and Des the night before we left which was great as we were still packing!
Des and Anna cared for our 2 dogs, 2 cats, budgie, 6 cockatiels and 4 chickens without a hitch. All have different needs and personalities which was no problem. They weren't even scared off by our 7-page instruction manual which was a blessing!
Every day we received photos and text messages about the happenings at home...some were hilarious, which made our holiday even more enjoyable as we knew everybody was happy and relaxed.
We arrived home to a spotless house, clean sheets on the bed and everything as we had left it. All the animals were happy, contented and well fed. Des and Anna had even weeded one of monstrous garden beds and cleaned some windows. We also enjoyed delicious home-made pizza when we arrived home which we shared with holiday stories and heaps of laughs!
With all honesty we can recommend Des and Anna to anyone as they are a caring, honest and trustworthy couple. Our pets were their top priority and they stuck to their routine which made it a no stress situation for everyone! We feel we have made lifelong friends and would welcome them back here anytime, not only as house sitters but more importantly as friends! I'm sure our dogs miss them as much as we do! Of course, we would love to make them our personal house sitters but as they are in such high demand, we're still working on that!

Absolutely wonderful house sitters. We would have them back anytime. They took excellent care of our dear old Labrador, our house and our plants. I would definitely recommend them.

I loved our weekly update Anna would send, with a fun, chatty story along with photos, very much appreciated when away from the home that I love.

It was great to meet Des and Anna and felt very comfortable that we had made the right choice in having them mind our house and pets.
We left our house clean and tidy and returned to a clean and tidy house which, after a long journey home, was much appreciated.
One of our dogs became ill a week before we went on holiday and it was comforting to know that she was going to looked after by such responsible and caring people.
We would definitely have them back and would recommend them to anyone.

Once we had met them we knew that we had found the right ... MOREDes and Anna looked after our home and one very spoiled feline while we were overseas for almost a month. This was the first time for us using house sitters so were nervous about leaving everything in the hands of virtual strangers. However, from the first contact by email, Des and Anna responded very quickly to all my questions and we felt that they would work for us, we arranged a meeting at our place on their way to another housesit.
Once we had met them we knew that we had found the right people, very professional and thorough to make sure that they understood exactly how to best take care of our house, pool, garden and more importantly our 3 year old very fussy cat. On the day of our departure Des and Anna arrived at the arranged time and their reassurances made leaving things not as difficult as it may have been.
They sent us daily email updates and photos of all of our pet's daily activities, he obviously enjoyed their company and was receiving plenty of love and affection. They certainly went beyond the call of duty and put up with our cat's insistence on being let out at 3:00 am, I think that this demonstrates how committed they are to ensuring that your pets continue with their routine....no matter how insane!! Our garden looked better than when we left and Des had trimmed some trees and plants and handily repaired our barracuda when it stopped working several times.
Our fridge was stocked with basics when we returned and the house was spotless.
I know for a fact that it was their generous and warm personalities and their reassuring updates while overseas that allowed us to relax and enjoy our holiday knowing that everything was been taken care at home.
We have no hesitation in recommending Des and Anna as the perfect house sitters, and we would love for them to help us out again in the future if possible, although I am sure that they will be so busy that it may be difficult to book them again.
They are a lovely couple and we hope to catch up with them again when they are next in Brisbane, I know that our fussy feline friend will be happy to say thanks!!

Anna and Des are incredible house sitters. They are personable, articulate and very capable in all aspects of household management. My home was left in impeccable condition upon my return. All plants had survived the extremely hot summer and my elusive cat, Jett, was alive, well and his quirky requirements catered for.

Des and Anna were great housesitters, totally spoiling my 2 little dogs, they also managed my 10 cows well, feeding them by hand and ensuring all was ok. I was sent regular photo updates.
The house gardens were well maintained and the house spotless.
