Animal Lover 123

43, Dog Walking Business Owner

I am 43 years old and run a business walking dogs. I am a non-smoker and own a car.

I returned to Melbourne recently after spending two years in Sydney. I house sat for the entire two years I lived in Sydney. I enjoy housesitting and it has given me an amazing opportunity to pay off my student loan, put extra money into superannuation, donate to my favourite causes and begin my own business.

I love animals and previously fostered cats for a local shelter. I grew up in a house that was practically a menagerie! I have experience with dogs, cats, fish, rabbits, rats, mice, birds, guinea pigs, chickens etc. I am the sort of person who stops to pat cats and dogs when going for a walk and keeps dog treats in the car for my friends pets. My close friend recently acquired a small farm and I enjoy going to visit.

I had a pet cockatiel for many years. My grandfather was a bird breeder so I am familiar with birds funny little idiosyncrasies.

I recently set up a dog walking business called Queen of the Hounds. If you have a dog that gets along with others they can come along with me multiple times a day to play with my clients dogs and have extra walks.

When not working on my business I am studying to be a dog trainer through Delta. At the moment this involves correspondence study. In June I will be flying to Sydney to spend a week learning how to run dog obedience courses.

On Friday evenings I train at an agility dog club. I have trained one dog up to agility level, three dogs in obedience and have just started training a second agility dog. Dog training is more about training the people than the dog. I am learning a lot. The club has many trainers so there are plenty of people to ask should I ever encounter a dog with unusual behaviour that I am unsure how to correct. On house sits where there are dogs I apply what I have learned and have successfully corrected minor behavioual issues before the owners returned. I have cared for dogs who suffer from dog aggression and willing to do so again in the future. In the future I plan to become a volunteer instructor at a dog club.

I have sat for lots of different animals. The most unusual is probably stick insects and a scorpion.

I adore travel and go overseas whenever I can afford to do so. I like countries that are totally different to ours with Africa and India being favourite places. My recent trips were to Belize where I did an ancient Mayan dig and North Korea (yes that is the naughty one).

I have reached the stage in life where the nightlife no longer appeals to me. I would prefer to curl up with a good book or have a meal with close friends.

I enjoy cooking and get a lot of pleasure from feeding friends. You are likely to find a meal in the fridge waiting for your arrival.

The pictures are of me with:
- my friend's working dog, Lick,
- a past foster cat, Denny - he is the most relaxed cat I ever met.

I have been a full-time house sitter since May 2015 and in the past used housesitters to care for my (now deceased) pets. I believe I have a good understanding of both sides. I take the responsibility of caring for pets very seriously. I completed a pet first aid course and a diploma of canine behaviour.

I am a responsible person and should you choose me I will treat your home with the same care as if it is my own.

Anne is a fantastic Housesitter and I would not hesitate to recommend her, especially if you have pets. She is thorough and organised and went out of her way to make everything go smoothly. She was prompt and clear in all her communications leading up to the housesit and provided regular updates about my pet while I was away. Having Anne housesit for me gave peace of mind knowing I was leaving my pet with someone who genuinely loves animals. I also returned home to a lovely clean and tidy house ... MORE

I have nothing but the highest praise for Anne- we feel so lucky to have had her look after our cat, home, and plants. Anne's wealth of experience in house-sitting critters of every kind was so invaluable to us. Anne thought of everything! She has really had every experience while house-sitting so she knows what to expect and what questions to ask of us. Anne gave the most delightful updates on our cat while we were on holiday, so we always felt like he was in the best of hands. Anne was ... MORE

Loved loved loved having Anne take care of my kitties. I got updates every day and every evening which is exactly what I wanted. My kitties are a bit spoiled and they loved her company she continued spoiling them took videos of them let them watch TV, brushed them, played with them and they were extremely happy. I could see that in the pictures and the videos, and I could tell that when I got home. I could not more highly recommend Anne. I should also mention one of my cats (a Bengal) is ... MORE

Anne was nothing short of fantastic. From the first communication until the handover she was very professional, polite and a lovely person to be around. You can tell she loves animals and has plenty of experience to help you feel relaxed and know that your animals are getting 5-star care. She looked after the house as though it was hers and she left us some amazing cookies to munch on after our very long trip home. I could not recommend Anne enough but get in quick, shes in hot demand.
NICOLE (North Melbourne VIC, Oct 2018 - 1 week 6 days)
Anne is a credit to Aussie Housesitters. Her friendly manner combined with her extreme professionalism from start to finish of her home stay made us extremely comfortable having her look after our dog Tilly. She is most welcome to return on future occasions and is highly recommended to others.
MAX (Newport VIC, Oct 2018 - 5 days)
No rating Anne cared for our 2 dogs during June 2018. We could not speak more highly of her 'tenancy'. The unit was left spotless, with some welcoming home-made soup and other staples left for our return. No hesitation in recommending her. Dogs were obviously happy and healthy.
PETER & WENDY (4/31 Alma Road, Camberwell VIC, Jun 2018)
Anne was a wonderful house sitter and took especially good care of my girls - Bella, an ageing ex puppy farm rescue dog and Princess Bev a recently adopted 5 year old cat. When I first met Anne I knew that I could go away without any worries as Anne is both clearly an experienced and capable house sitter and an animal lover. I'm looking forward to having Anne return to my home in September/October this year.
NADA (Newport VIC, Apr 2018)
No rating Anne looked after our dog, house and garden while we were away for 1 week. It was the first time we have used a house sitter and Anne couldn't have been more helpful or reassuring. She diligently looked after our dog, giving him medication daily and lots of love, walks and mental stimulation. She also sent us updates regularly so we could just relax and enjoy our holiday knowing all was well on the home front.
LOUISE (Williamstown VIC, Apr 2018 - 1 week)
Anne is like a dogs Mary Poppins. She was very informative re dog obedience and behaviours and you could tell she really cared for dogs and loved having them around. Anne was very respectful of my house and routine with my dog Frankie and i was very impressed with her professionalism in making sure i was comfortable with her and that Frankie was in the best hands. Id definitely recommend Anne to anyone and will hopefully be able to use her services again in the future.
GAI (Richmond VIC, Mar 2018 - 2 days)
We had a wonderful house sit with Anne. It was our first experience with a house sit and Anne made sure that we were confident and secure about it by giving us helpful advice and answering our many questions. Our two cats adored her and she sent us regular updates on how they were. She left the house clean tidy and and even left us some welcome home treats! I am very happy to recommend Anne for house and pet sitting. I am so happy with her that I have already booked her again!
PAULINA (Aberfeldie VIC, Feb 2018)
Anne was a great Housesitter! We met up with her the week before we went away and she was very personable and took to our 3 dogs. She even asked and answered some questions to situations we had not considered. She kept us updated with home conditions via email while we were away and even stayed on to play nursemaid to Greg when he had to come home a week early due to illness. Very happy to give her a reference and our fullest endorsement. Already have her booked in for another trip in Feb 2018!
MICK (West Footscray VIC, Oct 2017)
No rating Anne is fantastic. Thank you so much, wonderful house/dog sitter. Would give her the keys to any home in a flash.
LISA (Dulwich Hill NSW, Mar 2017 - 2 days)
No rating Anne was absolutely perfect with looking after our rabbit Daphne and our home. Anne messaged me photos of Daph and reassured me that they were having a lovely time. Anne played so well with her and trained her to do a few fun tricks. Anne left our home looking perfect- we'd have her back in a heartbeat
JACQUI (Cronulla NSW, Oct 2016 - 1 week 2 days)
No rating Anne is the ideal house sitter for someone who has a pet. She obviously loves animals and knows a great deal about them. My cat took to her immediately (pretty rare event!). Anne sent us regular updates with photos which kept me from worrying. The house was wonderfully clean and tidy on our return. I only hope that Anne will be available for future "sits" as we would love to have her back.
LIZ (Warriewood NSW, Jun 2016 - 2 weeks 1 day)
No rating Anne was a very responsible and thoughtful housesitter while I was overseas for three weeks. I came home to a perfectly clean and tidy home, and she took care of special touches like fresh milk fridge and flowers. She was also very responsive throughout including helping to manage through changes in travel dates. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her.
