The house sitting HOT button

OK, so this isn't HUGE news for the house sitting community, but it's kind of fun. You can now launch Aussie House Sitters from a button on your smartphone or tablet.

Aussie House Sitters on your phone and tablet

Kind of like an App, but not - clicking this button simply launches the site in your standard browser. So it's NOT an app, but it's still super handy - a single click from your touchscreen and you're here!

The Aussie House Sitter Hot-button

Getting the Hot Button on your home screen is really simple:

  • Open the Aussie House Sitters website in the browser on your phone or tablet - and go to the page that you want the button to link to e.g. the login page or one of the search pages.
  • The toolbar for the browser should have an "Action" or "Overflow Menu" button that allows you to do various things like "add bookmark" or "add to favourites". Click on this "Action" button.
  • Click "Add to home screen"

Of course, it's easy to remove the button if you find you need the real estate for more games or productivity apps.

NOTE FOR APPLE iPHONE: This Hot Button idea only works with Safari on an iphone. If you're using another browser like Chrome, Apple doesn't allow placement of icons on the home screen.

A side benefit

Let's be clear - this hot button was not a project in itself. It is a side benefit of a small upgrade we did to improve site performance on touchscreen devices. So now we've got that out of the way...

Come and get it

Sure, this is definitely one for the tech-tragics, power-sitters and early adopters - but it COULD make your house sitting adventure just a little bit easier (and fun).

Happy house sitting.

*FREE: House sitting is usually free, for both sitter and house owner, although this is completely up to the individuals. There are usually some costs that need to be covered by either the sitter or the house owner e.g. electricity, phone usage, vet fees etc. How these costs are handled needs to be agreed before the sit begins. House sitters pay a single annual membership fee, while house owners pay nothing to advertise their house or to contact sitters.
