29, Animator and sculptor
Hello, my name is Julia and I'd love to help care for your pet whilst you're away in what ever capacity they may require.
A little about me: I'm an artist that creates kinetic sculptures and animated work. I spend most of my time working on my practice and portfolio which, as it's on my own terms and times, can be flexible to accommodate all sorts of pet schedules and requirements. I also work in an art store a few days a week which is the only extended period of time I'd ever leave your precious pet. However, as I do this solo I am not well suited for pets who suffer from severe separation anxiety and can’t be left alone for the length of a working week day.
I have been abodeless and pet sitting full time for eight months and absolutely love it. It’s incredibly rewarding to gain the trust of, and to spend time with, your pet over the course of the sit. Pet sitting is more than just caring for your precious fur baby it’s also just as much about you. It’s a huge thing to open your home and trust a stranger to care for things and pets as much as you do and I am as considerate of this as possible. I send updates as frequently as you like, bin nights and watering days are no trouble, I love to cook so please let me know what not to use (i.e. favourite cups, family heirlooms or saucepans with particular cleaning applications) and also if you have any food allergies (because I’d hate for you to come home and not be safe to cook in your own kitchen). If you’ve also had any previous pet sitting experiences (good or bad) let me know and I can accommodate most things that may help you feel more at ease.
Experience wise I've cared for dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea-pigs, chooks, spiny leaf insect and fish. I have experience administering oral medications and caring for kittens and puppies in training. I am on the shorter side so unfortunately larger dog breeds I am physically unsuitable to care for (this may include medium build dogs who are dog reactive). Aggressive and reactive dogs, I’m afraid I am not equipped or trained to care for.
Being a Melbourne local has its perks. If you're looking for a regular and familiar face for your pet to feel safe and structured with please know I enjoy returning and building that trust. Especially important for any anxious pet to minimise the upset of your absence. I do charge a fee now of $30 a day for pet sitting. However, given the current cost of living crisis we are experiencing I am so happy to negotiate this depending on length of the sit, the requirements of your pet or if financial strain is a factor in your life. I’m here to help, not to put you out of pocket.
Thank you for taking the time to consider me for your pet.
