Bernie & Anne

We are an honest and trustworthy family, travelling since Nov 2021. We are returning 'home' to Townsville. We are looking for house sits or longer term care taking roles while we get reestablished in Townvsille.

WHEN & WHERE?

WHO are we?
We both grew up in Bundaberg, Qld but have spent the last 20+years in Townsville, Qld. We are travelling with our 3 girls aged 11-16 years and our son 6 years old. The interests among the family include running, having a veggie gardening, reading, craft, mountain bike riding, playing board/card games, baking, swimming, going to the park and on walks. We homeschool the children, so our time is a mixture of time at home and out exploring. We are non-smokers.

Pets - we have mostly owned a dog, the occasional cat and often had chickens. We are dog people though some of our girls love cats. We do not have any pets travelling with us.

While travelling, we miss our dog, having chickens and a veggie garden.

We have owned a home for over 15years and had house sitters ourselves so appreciate the care needed to look after a property. Anne grew up with a pool and we've also had house sits with a pool to care for. Happy to garden, mow, care for pets and more.

Our children understand and respect caring for your home and that there will be areas/cupboards that are private.


WHY?
For us it's an opportunity to serve others by house sitting for them and to pay forward for the house sitters who've looked after our place. Also to pause in our travels and as a way to explore an area.

WHAT might work...
We are travelling with our camper trailer. Some ways it may work:
- we can stay in our camper at your place. Set up it's 7m x 2.5m. (or with the annexe set up 7m x 5m). We would need bathroom/toilet/laundry access and water/power.
- we could use our camper as our bedroom and then use the common areas of your home (lounge, dining, kitchen, outdoor areas, bathroom, laundry).
- stay in your home. We happily fit in 3 rooms (that is what our homes have been). 2 in each room. Depending on your existing bedding we have some single mattresses from the camper that we can use to fit us in.
- or a mixture of the above ideas, as arranged with you.

We had Anne and Bernie (and H, B, E, S and J - I remembered them all) stay at our place in Darwin while we went on holidays in August/September this year.

They were such a lovely family, they looked after our place as their own, joined us for meals while we were still home, baked us lovely treats, treated our animals as theirs, the whole time. We wish they could have stayed longer!

It was so nice to be able to go away and not worry about anything because they had it all under control. Highly recommend Anne, Bernie and all the kids if you need a house sitter!

If you want your house to be taken care of as though you were never away, instead of people who just do the bare minimum, Anne, Bernie and their awesome kids are the way to go!

We came back to our acre in the middle of a huge wet season, and not only was the house cleaner than we left it, but the lawns were better kept than ever. The dogs and poultry were not an issue for them, and they kept to the specified feed regimes and maintenance to the letter! Let this great family take care of your house, pets, garden (we have 250 fruit trees, all of which were healthy and unharmed upon our return too!); lovely crew!

Anne, Bernie and their beautiful children stayed in our granny flat at the end of last year. It was an absolute pleasure having them! The kids helped and were so nurturing with my little baby and are exceptional bakers! The family are respectful, kind and left the property in tip top condition.
